First, we are so excited!  Did anyone see our interview with "This Next.com" the new shopping site!  Check it out!

Write a Perfect Thank You Note

  • Think KISS ~ which stands for "Keep it Simple Silly."  Only 2 to 4 lines are all that's needed to write a thank you.  A simple way to start:  "Thank you so much for thinking of us."
  • Have all your "Ducks in a Row."  Have your thank you cards, stamps, gift list (who gave what), and addresses on hand.  If you have everything you need in front of you on the desk ,  there is a much better chance that :  A.  You will spend the time to write your thank you's (and get the job done,)  and B. You won't become frustrated by stopping and starting.
  • Note that etiquette says you have up to 6 months to get your thank you notes out.  However, "Better late than never," applies to thanking your guests for the gifts you received.
  • Mention the gift by name.  Write a simple sentence such as, "The blender is just what we needed."   If the gift was money, don't mention the amount.  A simple, "Thank you so much for the gift, it will be put to good use.", is much better.
  • A verbal thank you is not correct etiquette when thanking your guests for their gifts.  Although it does convey your "thanks," a written note makes a much better impression.
  • Remember that the most personal thing about a thank you note is that it is a "personal and sincere," thank you.
  • Last but not least, your guests do expect a thank you.  It is proper and expected.  Believe me, when I tell you that people do wait for your note, for many reasons.  The first, it is recognition that you know what gift they gave you; they do want to know if you like it, and lastly, everyone wants to be appreciated.  Think about it, your guests put thought into what they bought you; took the time to purchase it and the time to wrap it.  So, what could be more heartfelt and gracious than to write a simple, "Thank you."

Photo Stamps

I have actually been standing in line at the post office and seen invitations go out with photo stamps on them.  They are actually quite intriquing and for lack of a better work, "Neat."  So, if you want to make your invitations more personalized, I would suggest sending them off with photo stamps.  Two options are listed below:

 Tea Time Wedding Favor . . .

Let your wedding guests know your "Love has Blossomed" as they marvel at the sight and pleasant aroma of this unique flower tea favor. Just drop the jasmine tea bud into hot water and watch it bloom right before your eyes, revealing a beautiful flower inside each bud. Each flower tea is composed of fresh and natural dried flowers and a blend of jasmine and green tea leaves. Each flower tea also comes in your choice of three beautiful handmade silk pouches. Choose from Jasmine & Lily (gold silk bag), Globe Amaranth & Chrysanthemum (white silk bag), or Rose (red silk bag), each fills the air with jasmine. Add an artistic touch of elegance and awe to your wedding by using it as a centerpiece.

Now for some fun . . .

Is this not the coolest greeting card? : ) Emitations has put it out. This would be a great pick-me-upper for the boyfriend, groom, husband (or better yet) if you want to get someone's attention - send it annonymously and hope they guess it's you. It is sure to bring a smile . . . P.S. It's printed with red glitter.  Put it in his lunchbox (if people still take their lunch,) on the front seat of his car or even lay it on his pillow!

And for more fun . . .

Halloween is just around the corner.  Whether you are having a Halloween themed wedding, shower or just a plain old fashioned Halloween party, I found the perfect place for you to find a costume (Oriental Trading offers $2.95 Shipping on orders of $60 or more ).   These costumes were just so flat out original ...  had to pass them on to you!

Here's a sampling of what they have to offer, and believe me, the prices are right!

Just click on this link:   Oriental Trading offers $2.95 Shipping on orders of $60 or moreand you can either put in the Item Number (in the search box) that I listed above, or you can just put in a general search for costumes.  They also sell bulk wrapped candy (i.e., packs of candy corn, bubble gum eyeballs), decorations and more.  Also check out their wedding supplies!  You won't be sorry.

CANDIED APPLES RECIPE

    • 12 red apples (Macintosh if you can find them)

    • 3 cups granulated sugar

    • 1 cup light corn syrup

    • 1 cup water

    • 1/2 - 1 teaspoon cinnamon

    • 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring

    • 12 wood popsicle sticks

    • Wax paper

    • Non-stick cooking spray

  1. Wash and dry apples thoroughly.

  2. Remove stem and insert popsicle stick into stem hole until only half of the stick remains showing

  3. Combine sugar, corn syrup, water in medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until sugar is completely dissolved

  4. Boil until syrup reaches hard candy stage, 300 degrees F on a candy thermometer or drop a little into cold water. If it hardens up right away, it is ready

  5. Reduce heat. Add cinnamon and food coloring and remove from heat

  6. Tilt saucepan and dip apples in the syrup, rotating until it is completely covered

  7. Place on waxed paper that has been lightly sprayed with non-stick cooking spray
