George Served with NC Troops. This Family Plot could be in Yadkin County now. George fought in the Revolutionary War for the Colonists.
Ray Danner uncovered a Deed in a SURRY CO., NC DEED BOOK D, Page 368 or 378 on the 29th of Sep. 1786 a Deed was drawn between Frederick Wm Marshall to George Tanner for 189 3/4 acres. from F. W. Marshall who is "of Salem in Wachovia in Surry, all of this land fell into Stokes Co. in 1789, in a 1799 Stokes Co., DEED it states that he sold this land to Johnathan Miller for $500. Co., ...Esquire of the first part and George Tanner of Rowan County of the aforesaid state the other part planter." The indenture was for the sum of sixty pounds and sixteen shillings. The land was on side the side of the South Fork of Muddy Creek, plat 109 adjoining property of John Jacob Schott and Adam Fischel. This fact is also noted in the Records of the Moravians in NC., a LIST OF FARM OWNERS IN WACHOVIA P. 1343 I am writing to you with some new information I gathered at the DAR library in Washington DC., in searching for Revolutionary War info I came upon some Pay Vouchers which included a listing George Danner! I enclose it here State of North Carolina, S37-------N=559. This is to certify that George Danner was allowed 37 Pounds specie for public claim by the Upper Board of Auditors 1 Jun 1782. Taugott Bagge & Charles Bruce, Aud.[ an additional voucher was located for John Danner for 5 pounds & 12 shillings. A letter 4 May 1999. Frederick Thompson (17 Jun 1774 - 12 Jul 1840) came from VA. to what was then Rowan Co., NC. & purchasedfrom George Danner 200 acres of land in what turned out to be the Tyro Community, Davidson Co., NC., HeritageBook #819. Jacob Danner Jr.: Name Suffix: Jr Family Records, Had no Children, Served with NC Troops. Jacob Jr. fought in the Revolutionary War for the Colonists. According to the Records of the Moravians in North Carolina "Jacob Tanner arrived with one wagon..." on 17 February, 1778. "Br. Graff reported on 16 September that Jacob Tanner, who lives in Wachovia on the South Fork, is thinking of selling his farm to a man (Ackerman by name) who would like to build a mill as the farm has a site with waterpower." On 25 Nov of the same year "The Brn. Marshall, Graff and Bagge took up the discussion of land matters, and in the afternoon Valentine fischel, Jacob Tanner and others came about it." On 15 Dec "we visitied Br. and Sr. Fischel, who have recently come from Yorktown, and have settled on their new farm near Tanner's." The above references seem to be about Jacob's second son, Jacob Jr., for in the Friedberg Diary, 1781 we read that on 2 Jan "The single man, Jacob Tanner, came for his certificate (of the publication of the Banns). I spoke with him about the guests invited to the wedding, for it seemed to us that there were rather to many; he promised to see that nothing was done which would be a reproach to us. As it turned out he must have found a way to avoid the persons we thought were too many, for they did not come."
