Are You Ready?

For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Matthew 24: 27

The setting is clear The Lord Jesus Christ is coming again ... this time as The King Of Kings and The Lord of Lords.

This is a very dangerous hour in the history of man. If you are not saved, it is a time to be get right with the Lord ( see below ). If you are a backslider, it is time to repent and start following the Lord again!

There are several passages of scripture pointing to the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is one of them:-

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

(Matthew 25: 1- 13).

What did the foolish virgins lack in their readiness? Oil, which is emblematic of the Holy Spirit; only He can make us really ready for the coming of Jesus. No one can be a true Christian without the indwelling Holy Spirit ?

Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. (Romans 8:9);

these foolish virgins had the appearance of readiness, but they lacked the critical ingredient.

As a first step to get ready I urge you NOW to say the following prayer:-

Heavenly Father I come to you now. Lord, I am a sinner. I have sinned against you, even this day, but Lord, I come and ask you in the name of Jesus that you will forgive me for all my sins, that you will wash me in the blood of Jesus and I shall be cleansed from all sin. I thank you now for saving me. Come into my heart and into my life and Lord, lead me by your Spirit and help me to live for you from this day forth. I thank you now in Jesus' name, Amen.

To continue as a true believer you must follow the Lord Jesus Christ. This involves regularly:-

1. Reading the Bible;

2. Praying to God in Jesus' name;

3. Fellowshipping with other born-again believers.
