In about 1987
I first met Don, a Christian man who had impressive prophetic gifts. I once
asked Don how he was able to operate in the revelation realm and he told
me he used principally 3 gifts... the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge
and discerning of spirits ( as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12 : 8-10 ). At
one time he called out a lady in a church; this woman had lost her daughter
and in the word he mentioned a telephone number. Subsequently the woman made
a telephone call using the number given and the daughter ( who was lost answered
the phone). Because of this gifting, Don had many people phoning him for "a word." He used to tell them to read the Holy Bible for themselves and allow the Lord to speak to them through His Word. And that is my advice and recommendation here. Personally, I am big believer in the gifts of the Holy Spirit but I believe the best way to receive divine guidance is to read and meditate on God' s Word and allow the Lord to speak through His Word. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. ( Psalm 119: 105 ) In the summer of 2003 I had to make a very important decision. After seeking the Lord for several weeks regarding this matter, one day I sat down in my chair and purposed in my heart to base my decision on God' s WORD. Within about 30 minutes I wrote down a few verses of scripture ( from the Bible ) in my journal, based I believe, on the leading of the Holy Spirit. At the time I said to my self, " That's it I have made my decision based on these verses! " Within a short period of time I knew that I knew that I knew I had made the right decision. Jesus said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." ( Matthew 24: 35 ). Therefore, His words are more reliable than the ground you are standing on. In other words the things you see around you are temporal but His Word is eternal... and the best basis for decision making. The Lord Jesus Christ also said :- "... the scripture cannot be broken " ( John 10 : 35 ). ------------- |
