Tender Heart

Title of Your Page

Jacqueline’s Junque

I try so hard not to expose
Gentle feelings I possess;
What brings me tears or laughter
Deep joy, great happiness.
To me it seems much safer
To keep things locked inside;
So I protect my tender heart
Knowing just what I must hide.

Romance is unpredictable
Carrying much uncertainty;
My passion gets far too intense
And winds up hurting me.
Better to just walk away
With my tender heart left whole,
Than open myself once again,
And lose my self control.

Its not that I don't want to know
The touch of love again,
I simply am not willing to
Risk the chance of any pain.
I know you wouldnt mean to hurt,
No one ever really does,
But this tender heart bears the scars
For each of its deep loves.

I know the price I'd have to pay
For letting someone near,
You think I'm foolish saying this
Yet can't you smell my fear?
I cannot let you close enough,
To make me cry if we should part.
This, sweet one, is the only way
I can protect my tender heart.
