Welcome dolphin lovers. Aren't dolphins incredibly beautiful animals? I think so, and that's why I have created this page. Dolphins are extremely friendly and intelligent animals.
Dolphins are predators which feed on live food, except when trained to do otherwise in captivity. Their primary food is fish: herring, mackerel, and sardines. It is estimated that they eat 30 kg (66 lb) a day for an individual about 2.5 m (8.2 ft) in length and 100 kg (320 lb) in weight.
The dolphin population is increasing, but they still need to be protected, as with all animals. Dolphins were once hunted for their oils and hides. The oil remains highly prized as a lubricant for watch mechanisms, but similar and cheaper products are now available. Commercial dolphin fishing is pretty much non existent. Many dolphins have been killed by commercial tuna fishers using purse nets. It is estimated that at LEAST 6 MILLION dolphins died between 1958 and 1994.
For centuries Dolphins guided sailors to new and distant lands. Let the Dolphin be the guiding force in your life.
