Jesus Captain Of My Salvation!
Hebrews 2:10
For it became him, for whom are all things,
and by whom are all things,
in bringing many sons unto glory,
to make the captain of their salvation
perfect through sufferings.
1 Peter 1:7
That the trial of your faith,
being much more precious than of gold
that perisheth,
though it be tried with fire,
might be found unto praise and honour
and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Hebrews 6:19
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul,
both sure and stedfast
C. H. Spurgeon
"The trial of your faith."
1 Peter 1:7-
Faith untried may be true faith, but it is sure to be little faith, and it is likely to remain dwarfish so long as it is without trials.
Faith never prospers so well as when all things are against her: tempests are her trainers,
and lightnings are her illuminators.
When a calm reigns on the sea,
spread the sails as you will,
the ship moves not to its harbour;
for on a slumbering ocean the keel sleeps too.
Let the winds rush howling forth,
and let the waters lift up themselves,
then, though the vessel may rock,
and her deck may be washed with waves,
and her mast may creak under the pressure
of the full and swelling sail,
it is then that she makes headway
towards her desired haven.
No flowers wear so lovely a blue
as those which grow at the foot of the frozen glacier;
no stars gleam so brightly
as those which glisten in the polar sky;
no water tastes so sweet
as that which springs amid the desert sand;
and no faith is so precious
as that which lives and triumphs in adversity.
Tried faith brings experience.
You could not have believed your own weakness
had you not been compelled to pass through the rivers;
and you would never have known God's strength
had you not been supported amid the water-floods.
Faith increases in solidity, assurance, and intensity,
the more it is exercised with tribulation.
Faith is precious, and its trial is precious too.
Let not this, however, discourage those
who are young in faith.
You will have trials enough without seeking them: the full portion will be measured out to you
in due season.
Meanwhile, if you cannot yet claim the result
of long experience,
thank God for what grace you have;
praise Him for that degree of holy confidence whereunto you have attained:
walk according to that rule,
and you shall yet have more and more
of the blessing of God,
till your faith shall remove mountains
and conquer impossibilities.
Captain of Salvation
Like a ship so far from home
Drifting aimlessly and alone
Storm tossed by the troubles of this world
Driven by the torrantes
And the mutiny of sin
There I alone was sinkin
Then the Captain of Salvation
Like a lighthouse in the night
Guided me into the harbor of God's Love
He gave me shelter from the tempest
He's the Prince of peaceful seas
I'm now anchored in the Harbor of God's Love
With the Cargo of Deliverance
And the Compass of God's Word
Setting sail in search
For otheres lost at sea
Some will sink but some will swim
And we will rescue them for Him
To the safety of the Rock
In the Harbor of God's Love
And set sail upon the ocean of God's Love
I HAVE SET THE LORD ALWAYS BEFORE ME
Our ship of life rolls through the night
Where wind does roll and shake;
The waves are tall, the lightning cracks -
Our joy soon it would take.
But God is strong, He battles long,
He holds a beacon bright
To guide our ship through waters deep
And lead us with His light.
He sent His Son to run the course,
To smooth the dangerous way,
To show us how to run our lives,
To lead us toward the day.
He ran his course with sails unfurled
With God His source alone;
He showed us how to look above
Where God has made a home.
O man who sees the waves so fierce
And feels the wind so cold.
Raise up your eyes to God above,
Be strong , believe , be bold.
Hold to God's Word, an anchor strong
That holds our ship aright
When winds would blow and waves would toss
Our ship along its flight.
Let's look above where joy prevails,
Where seas are calm and free
Let's anchor high and say with joy,
"I have set the Lord always before me"
PRAYER:
Lord, You are the true and living God,
You rule over all things visible and invisible. There is nothing that catches You by surprise,
and there is nothing beyond your reach.
You know our rising up and our sitting down.
You know when we go out and when we come in.
Lord Jesus, I ask that You would manifest Yourself as the prince of Peace to my friend right now.
And that Your presence would be more real to them than their fears.
I rebuke the spirits of fear and anxiety
that have been assigned to my friend
and I cancel the schemes of the devil
to tear down their faith, and hinder their destiny.
Lord Your word says,
"The righteous cry out,
and You hear them
and deliver them from all their troubles."
Deliver my friend now from all their fears,
and enable them to cast all their cares upon You. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit,
and empower them to fight fear
with unwavering faith in You.
I pray in Jesus mighty name,
Amen!
I'll Turn To You
Midi by Elton Smith and Larry Holder
There is peace within my spirit
By the wisdom of Your Way,
For Your grace is everlasting,
Giving strength to live each day.
Though the clouds arise, and starless skies
bring fear into this heart of mine,
I'll always turn to You,
May I always turn to You...
Lord, Your Word's a Light unto my path,
A Lamp unto my feet.
You have brought me to Your throne of grace,
in You I am complete.
Though at times I sail the stormy sea,
And the answers are not clear to me,
I'll always turn to You,
May I always turn to You,
I pray.
Now I greet the dawn as daylight comes;
With joy inside this soul of mine,
I turn my heart to You,
For Your love is shown anew
Today!
