Bo and Hope met in 1983 and wedded in the spring of 1985. They journeyed through many good times and bad yet their love remained stronger than ever. When their new son, Shawn-Douglas Brady, was born, they sailed into the sunset and didn't return until years later. A lot of things happened when they returned including tragedy. After his beloved wife Hope disappeared over a vat of acid in 1990 and was presumed dead, Bo Brady finally came to terms with his loss and fell head over heels for Carly Manning. Bo and Carly almost married, but her history with Lawrence Alamain kept getting in the way. Finally, Carly flew off to Europe with Lawrence and their son, but Bo was not left alone. He was developing a beautiful relationship with ex-drug addict/ex-porn star Billie Reed. Bo and Billie fell madly in love and Bo finally proposed in New Orleans---the place which had held special memories for Bo and Hope years earlier. Billie was all set to say "yes" to the man of her dreams when suddenly a woman appeared in a rainstorm. And that woman looked just like Hope Brady. She couldn't remember a thing about her past and was convinced that her name is Gina. Bo refused to accept that Gina was Hope, even when she began to have Hope's memories. It turned out those memories were the result of a post-hypnotic suggestion planted by Celeste and Stefano DiMera, but Alice Horton, Hope's grandmother, refused to believe this woman was not her grand-daughter. Bo and Billie went ahead with their marriage ceremony anyway. Months later, the truth was revealed. There was no doubt: Gina was Bo's Fancy Face. While Hope desperately longed to return to the life and the son she and Bo had shared, Bo was too afraid to let himself love her again. Too afraid to let her back in. He'd literally steeled his heart from even contemplating the possibility that this could be his beloved wife. He decided it would be easier to remain true to Billie, but Ms. Reed knew that he'd never get Hope out of his heart. So she moved to Paris to head the European division of Countess Wilhemina, giving Bo a chance to decide which woman he couldn't live without. Billie knew if she were out of the picture, Bo would go back to his first wife and the mother of his son---the woman he shared hearts full of memories with. At first despondent, Bo finally came aruond to admitting what he'd been afraid to face---his heart would always belong to Hope. But Hope would never settle for second best. She wasn't so sure that his love for her was as strong was it once was. The fact tha tBo didn't choose her from the beginning really irked her---she wasn't going to be the consolation prize. Now, Bo had his work cut out. He was a beer and pretzels kind of guy, who knew his Facy Face needed to be wooed with candles, flowers and all sorts of romance. But just as they were ready to admit that their love for each other had never died, Hope was presumed dead once again---this time in an avalanche. She was actually being held hostage by Jude St. Clair. When Jude was killed and Hope was found, the long-time lovers prepared to marry again with son Shawn-Douglas by their side. Before their marriage could take place, Billie surprised all and returned to town. She claimed she didn't want Bo back, but Hope knew that was a lie. Still, Hope made her wedding plans and finally, the big day arrived. Unfortunately, Bo didn't. Thanks to Franco's master stroke of manipulation, when Hope found her wayward groom, he was in the Horton cabinwith none other than Billie! Bo claimed he was trying to protect Billie from an attacker, but Hope wouldn't buy it and left the heartsick groom at the altar. Billie felt guilty, but she also was secretly relieved because Hope was right---she was still in love with Bo. Soon, police officer Bo became emeshed in an undercover case investigating drug lord J.L. King. As part of his cover and to protect his son and Hope, he and Billie had to pretend that they were together once again, leaving Hope crushed. Everytime time Bo thought the case was finally going to be wrapped up, something has gotten in the way, and he's been forced to break Hope's heart over and over again. Meanwhile, he's become closer and closer to Billie, although Hope was always on his mind. Recently, he and Billie were not only forced by King to marry, but Hope ended up as the devastated maid of honor! The day after the ceremony, Hope returned to Salem with Franco Kelly by her side. (Franco was hired to keep by someone to keep Bo and Hope apart, but he's beginning to fall in love with her.) Franco had already professed his love to her and tried get closer to her, but her mind is constantly on Bo. Now the truth of Bo's undercover work has come out. Knowing that Bo and Billie's intimate relationship was only a sham and that Bo only did what he had done to protect her and his family, she immediately forgave him and rushed to see Bo in Rome. But when she gets to the hotel room to surprise her true love, she sees him on the bed with Billie assuming that they were making love. Holding back tears, she ran back to Salem without Bo or Billie noticing that she'd seen. Truth is, when Billie asked for one last request from Bo (making love to her one last time before she lets him go), sympathizing her, he was on the verge of making love to her, but couldn't go through with it when he felt Hope's presence. When Bo returned to Salem to reunite with his first love, Hope, she was nowhere in sight, for she was at the Horton cabin on Smith Island to take some time away to think. Franco was there too of course. When Bo found out where she is, he went there and found Franco slipping a ring onto Hope's finger thinking that he's been too late. He tried to explain his situation about his undercover work, but that was not what was bothering Hope. She told him that their relationship is over. Bo, not understanding why said to himself that the undercover case wasn't worth losing her. Hope on the other hand is unknowingly winding into Franco's manipulation. Billie is now alone in Rome and pain fills her heart thinking that she has lost Bo. Max, King's partner in crime, was ordered to take actions for revenge. Max was to kidnap Billie and force her into the life of her past, that is, being a drug addict. Kate, Billie's mother, knew that Billie was in danger somewhere in Rome and asked Bo to go there and find her. Just then, Hope was ready to talk it out with Bo, but he said he had something important to take care of. Right then and there was when Hope knew it was really over between herself and him. With Franco constantly feeding her doubts about Bo's love towards her, Hope decided to move on and start a new life. Franco, hoping to be part of it, tries to find his way to her heart. Meanwhile, Bo searches for Billie, but still harbor hope that his dream of reconciling with Hope and living together with her and their son will one day come true. But will it be too late when he returns back to Salem?
