Seven Day Jesus

Album Review

Seven Day Jesus has come out with their debut album released on Forefront Records. As you may know, they released their first album on 5 Minute Walk. This CD is an excellent sophmore project and is already making airwaves with the hit song, "Butterfly."

Brian McSweeney, who is the band's songwriter, has done an exceptional job of making great catchy songs. These songs will just stay in your head and are anything but annoying. "Butterfly" is a great example of this as are "Down With the Ship," "Always Comes Around," and "Everybody Needs Love." The songs are also diverse sounding from one another. While "Butterfly" has a great catchy alterna-pop sound, "Everybody Needs Love" has a mellower pop sound, and "Who I Am" has a harder, edgier, alternative sound. No two songs sound exactly alike, yet you can like every song just the same. That is probably what I like most about the musical sounds this album has on it. The lyrics are also fantastically done. Everything is understandable, yet artistic at the same time. The songs deal with our relationships with God, love, and boldness, always pointing to Jesus Christ as the answer to life. Overall, this is a great album and it is really for people of all musical tastes.
