The Chat Bug In Me

(That Refuses to Die)

I was  a Chat Maniac right from the Days when Chat was in its Infancy and I was an adolescent. Those were the good old days when mIRC was king and  u cud get Chat IDs like Romeo pretty easily ( finding Juliet was the tough task). ICQ was also a hot thing but there were some proxy problems which was one of the major reasons why it didnt pick up much in the Student community and other places which were behind a firewall. New Technologies came up and then came the craze for Chat Sites like Yahoo and AOL which were king then. Only a few number of Chat sites ensured that who's who of the Cyber World cud be found chatting at the same place as u . Those were good days . But before u knew it , there were thousands of Chat Sites, each of them dividing the Chat community even more in the name of Specialized Chats for different interests, races and creeds. My craze for Chats was dying now since most as the other sites ate the Yahoo and AOL users. And logging into 3-4 Chatting Sites simultaneously to access all your friends was a big drag. But then , Boom , there came the concept of Instant Messengers or IMs. Although ICQ had incorporated the idea of IMs pretty early, it was only when Yahoo, AOL and MSN came up with their versions did Instant Messaging really started picking up. The advantage being the connectivity to an email address which unfortunately ICQ didnt have. Also they managed to bypass the Proxies pretty easily in their later versions. Now , u could easily Chat with friends u know by just starting the applications once and which wud stay discreetly in ur System tray. All of them also provide u the option of searching for guys with the same interest and so on . So , I am back from the brink . Addicted to Chatting with the innumerous Chat friends that i have. Long Live The Chat.
