I would like to make it clear at the onset that these are my opinions based on experiences i have seen and had and they should be treated accordingly.

Ask me and i think now is the best time , if any, to get into the IT field, with demands for Indian Software Pros rising as never-before all over the world. I am sure if u have the aptitude for IT and the right guidance , u can make it good here. According to me the Best 2 gateways in the IT Field for a Non-CSE/ECE guy would be Infy and CDAC .

While in the Final Year or even after that , u can apply for the written tests conducted by Infosys at regular intervals. U can have a look at the pattern of the paper in the by Clicking Here . U can prepare for the Infy test from the Following books :
1. A Book written by George Summers . Cant recollect the name (most probably Puzzles and Teasers or something like that)
 2. Another by Shakuntla Devi called Puzzles or something like that .
Also , at any time , u can mail ur Resume at freshers@inf.com. Also I am sure our guys at Infy would also forward ur CV to the appropriate persons. Kamal Chandna ( kamalchandana@infy.com) has volunteered to help anyone who's interested.

Abt the other option, i think CDAC has a decent record as far as job placements is concerned. Though u have to shell out something around Rs.40,000 as Course Fees for a 6 month Diploma Course, i think its a much safer bet than doing some course in NIIT ,Aptech ,etc. Specially recommended for guys who just want to get into the IT Field, at any cost and who of course have the Aptitude for IT. For this , again u would have to go through a Written Test (Check the Sylabbus through the Application Form but most prob it covers fundamental C and/or C++ , do correct me if I am wrong, anyone) , followed by an Interview. There are Lots of Centers all over India and u can get to know the approximate rankings of these by talking to any of the guys who have studied there. Heres a list of ex-CDAC guys along with their Email IDs who have Volunteered to help anybody interested in getting any info on CDAC : Dilpreet Singh Sehgal(connectdp@yahoo.com) and Shantanu Dutta (shantanu.dutta@wipro.com)

IBM too has a pretty decent Course called IBM-ACE and u can contact these guys for details regarding the Test and the placement record : MohanPreet (gujral@mailcity.com) and Anindyo(anindyo@mailcity.com)

Thanx to all the guys who have accepted to help answer queries abt their institutes.

Any other info would be most welcome. Also Do let us know if someone has had a Bad or Good experience with any other institute or any other company which takes Freshers from Other Branches . It would definitely help the rest of us to take better decisions.

All the Best.
