Maine has over 60 lighthouses along its rugged coast. Today, the lights still shine and are either privately owned or operated by the coast guard.

Bass Harbor Light is located on Mt. Desert Island. It was built in 1858. Today it is operated by the Coast Guard. You can walk to this lighthouse.

Curtis Island Lighthouse was built in 1836 and is located on the south side of Camden Harbor.
