Aphrodite enters her temple listening to some rock music. She decides to See what the mortals have brought her. She is upset to find "grody" fish. Messy looking men enter her temple and salute her. The men have brought the Mystic Diamond to Aphrodite so that her priest in Parnasses can shoot it into her constelation. He has better equipment than the men. Beside, he uses astrological stuff that makes her head ache, that is in Aphrodite's words. She assures the men that she will take care of Xena, Gabrielle and Joxer, who are after them. She will use her potion called Obsession. {Sound familar? Calvin Klein perhaps?} The men leave the temple out the back. Aphrodite disappears. Xena, Gabrielle and Joxer enter. Gabrielle asks " How could Aphrodite steal the North Star?" Xena says "She stole the Mystic diamond from the Temple of the Heavens. Unless we get its power back before nightfall the North Star will go ou abd the world will be in for some serious turmoil. Joxer asks " You mean that things that go bump in the night really will go bump in the night? " Xena says " All travellers on land and sea look to the North Star as a guide. The Mystic Diamonds powers keep it shining. Gabrielle says " Xena, there's no sign of Myceus!" Moving Xena says "Lets look around and see if they've stashed it someplace." Aphrodite, invisible to the heroes holds her potion happily as they pass the invisible goddess. Xena says " Check over here. " Joxer looks at a mural and asks "What's this? " Gabrielle explains that it is Aldus, the ape man, and a princess. Aphrodite blows the potion at Joxer. Now he is obsessed with Aldus and the story. Gabrielle sees somethings on the wall wall. She says " They say the paintings of women in Aphrodite's temple represent many faces; but based on this I have to say that she's pretty full of herself. Gabrielle moves on till she is by a mirror. Aphrodite says "Oh really?" and she blows the potion into Gabrielle's face. Gabrielle looks into the mirror at her reflection touches it. She says " Pretty." Guess what our little friend is obsessed with. Xena, looking at fish says who knows what stupid thing Aphrodite is going to use the star for. Aphrodite come up beside Xena and says " Double dose for you warrior babe. Your never getting the smell {of fish} off of your hands now. " Xena says "I got it, I know what to do, the North Star's on the verge of extinction, the fate of the worl is in our hands. We're going fishing!" Xena is flying a kite in a field, for reasons unknown to us at the time, she asks Gabrielle to pull a string that wil set the kite free. When Gabrielle pulls the kite falls right down on top of her. When Gabrielle, Xena, and Joxer the ape man are walking to the lake Gabrielle is singing about how perfect she is. Xena sees the lake and says it is just like she remembers it. Then the trio heads of to a cliff where Xena starts a rockslide so that Aphrodite's servants with the diamond have to go by the river. Now Xena can go fishing. With Joxer acting like an ape Xena jumps into the lake and catches three fish. She takes them to Joxer to clean while she starts a fire. Joxer, who thinks he is Aldus, Lord of the Jungle lets one of his trout brothers go to get his tribute. Xena is not happy and threatens to use her fishing technique on him. Meanwhile Gabrielle falls into the water trying to kiss her reflection. Xena can not see Gabrielle anywhere. Suddenly there are bubbles on the calm lake. Xena dives in yelling " Gabrielle! " She rescues Gabrielle who doesn't even thank her. Later Joxer is scratching his back on a rock. Gabrielle starts talking to him about the injustices of the world. Joxer, the ape man misinturprets it and thinks she is saying that she likes him. Back at the lake Xena remembers fishing with her brother Lyceus and almost catching the great fish Solaris. Gabrielle comes back to Xena. Xena runs to her and hugs her. Quickley she grabs her daggar and cuts of a chunk of Gabrielle's hair. She is going to use it to cover the hook so that she can catch "Solaris",the fish. Xena explains that she is going to use her kite to catch him. Gabrielle says " Do you ever get the feeling that we're forgetting something important? " Joxer is swinging in the background. Meanwhile the thugs come to the avalanche and discover that they will have to go by the lake instead. Xena, meanwhile has convinced Gabrielle to go after the thugs because they have the perfect, flawless, diamond. Gabrielle believes that because she is perfect she must have it. When Gabrielle gets there the men don't want to give her the Diamond. Joxer the ape man swings down and grabs her. Back at the lake Xena sees that Joxer has Gabrielle. Ahe yells " Ape man you bring her back !" Xena swings on a vine and grabs Gabrielle. When they are one the ground they fight off the thugs and get the diamond. Xena also catches "Solaris". She flings the diamond and the fish into the sky. She says it was for her brother. Suddenly, her obsession is gone. She found out what had always been bugging her that led to her obsession, she felt that she owed her brother something. She asked Gabrielle what it was. It turns ou that she felt unapreciated and felt that she never got credit for all she did,and that she was a "stupid sidekick". That is why she was obsessed with her image. That night Xena and Gabrielle laying on the grass. Gabrielle asks " Which one is the North Star. Xena says that it is in the mouth of the fish. Since they flung the fish into the heavens it became a constelation. Then, they realize that Joxer is still an ape man. Xena says " I'll take care of him in the morning. " I think that his obsession was because he loves Gabrielle.
