RR #06-0799A

I am in a 6 person robin which began on July 10th with Donna Holdridge (TAXYLADI) RR# 06-0799A. My theme for this robin is A Day at the Beach. My robin is a collage robin. I would like to thank Erica for introducing me to collages and for being the inspiration for this piece in particular. We are all so lucky that we have so many people who are willing to share their experiences and knowledge with us.

It is kind of hard to tell in the picture but the image in the top is an airplance and it is towing a banner which is where all the stitchers in this robin will be signing their name, date and state. I thought of stitching each of us a cloud to put our info into or a kite or even a balloon vendor holding balloons for each of us to sign but thinking back to times I have spent at the beach and watched the banner planes fly by I decided the airplane and banner was more suited for the tone of this piece. I am really excited about this robin and looking forward to seeing what it looks like when it is completed. Now I have to start collecting shells, driftwood and seaweed to make the frame for when this piece comes home. The "water" is made of Smyran stitches and the "sand" is half cross stitches done with perle cotton.

I stitched this Cider Press for Rita Pollak. Her theme is Autumn and her instructions were to stitch something that reminded us of autumn. For me autumn means apple picking season, an activity my whole family enjoys. This design is from the Oct 1992 issue of Cross Country Stitching magazine. RR# 06-0799A.

I stitched this Easter Egg for Tina Moy as part of her theme.
