~* The Help Zone *~

Once upon a time, when earthlings discovered something called the WWW, (the World Wibe Web), they were introduced to a new world, a new way of life. They thought, “Like, help me and stuff”. They found the Internet a very big place, and soon became trapped, and they could no longer go on. These little earthlings discovered, ”The Help Zone”, where they could get simple answers to problems, and soon were back on their journey of the ‘Net.

Welcome to “The Help Zone”. I am your tour guide, Sara, and I will give your some general pointers of how simple it is to become a cyber smartie.

......THIS MONTH......

~*Survival in the Chat Room*~

Making yourself known when you visit a chatroom is essential to prevent boredom. You can’t just sit at your desk chair and watch the computer screen, without typing anything, and say, “This sucks. Why won’t anyone talk to me??”. Isn’t it obvious why no-one wants to talk to you?? Sure everyone can see that you ARE in the chatroom, but no-one knows anything about you, and would come to the conclusion that you are a boring person. AND YOU’RE NOT!! We will learn how to overcome this problem.

Here are the golden rules about chat rooms

As soon as you enter a chat room, INTRODUCE YOURSELF. Talk a bit about yourself. eg. (My name is *Chat Princess* and I have just entered a room).
Hey everyone!! Who’d like to chat to me?? I’m 15/F/ I like 3rd Rock, Guitars, Guys, and cyber chatting! *hugs to all*
This is a brief example to make yourself known. If someone sounds interesting, say hello to them.

I find that a real turn-off is people who are desperate for c-sex. I hate it, but that’s my opinion. Please, if you’re entering a room for c-sex, don’t make out that you won’t leave anyone alone unless you get some. Ask once, and trust me, people will notice, and if no-one wants it, then GO AWAY. That’s it.

Show your EXPRESSIONS. People like to know when you’re in a good mood. It may sound weird, but people appreciate it. If you’d like to let people know you are happy, sad, excited, confused, angry, hungry, etc, write an adjective and surround the word with stars (*). For example *happy!*, *hungry*, *sad*, *confused*.
When you want to show yourself doing something, such as hugging, kissing, flicking a cyber rubber, singing along with your fave Nirvana song, smirking, or looking at your dream guy/girl deep in the eyes, (the list is endless), just do this...
* looks at Mr X deep in the eyes* , *kiss*, *hug*, *flicks rubber at Robert*, *singing along to Nirvana* It’s simple huh!!

Use your keyboard to show some mad facial expressions!! (Just turn your head to see what I mean!!) Here are some common examples....
:-) = Smiley Face :-( = Sad Face ;-) = Flirt Mode @>-->-- = Cyber Rose (Aww!!) :-() = Mustache 8-) = Spec Head 0:-) = Angel :-p = Stickin’ out tongue :-& = Tongue Tied.
Here is some more cyber symbols which you may not know about!
*L* = Laugh/Chuckle *LOL* = Laugh Out Loud *S* = Smile.

If someone says, “PM me!”, PM means Private Message.

JOIN IN peoples conversations. Watch what everyone is talking about, and see if you have common interests with a particular person. It’s not ‘intruding’ when you ask what someone is talking about. Besides, if they didn’t want the whole room to hear about it, they wouldn’t be talking about it in the public forum.

If your still not getting attention, I once tried these examples.
I am known in chat rooms as the “Survey Girl”, because I love conducting them. What I do is I send a PM to everyone in the room, (that way they’ll notice) and say that I am conducting a “TV Voting Competition”. I ask them to send a message back to me, voting for their favourite television show and I tally up the votes. Believe me, people are interested!!

Well, hope you found the tips interesting, and hope ya learned something....you rookies should be glad that there is hope and help around!!
Luv, *Chat Princess*
