George enlisted in Co. H 30th MS Infantry at Grenada, MS. He was a Sgt. On 8 Apr. 1862 he was on detached duty as an artificer

Will of George S. Applegate
George S. Applegate wrote his will on 13 June 1887 in Montgomery Co., MS and it was witnessed by Duncan Young and J. S. Cameron. His will was presented for probate on 24 Oct. 1887 by his wife Mrs. M. J. Applegate and accepted by the court. In his will he names his wife Mary J. Applegate to have all his estate and property real and personal during her lifetime and after her death to be evenly divided between his children, whom he did not name.
