In 1880 Sarah is living with her dau. and son-in-law, William C. & Elizabeth Hays.
In the 1830 Montgomery Co., AL census there are only 2 Nelson's that could possibly be Elizabeth's father: Robert and John. There is no Robert in 1850 at all, could he have moved or died, could he be John's father or Elizabeth's brother? Elizabeth named her first son John and her third son Robert.

2. i. ELIZABETH C. NELSON (JOHN1) was born Abt. 1816 in North Carolina. She married WILLIAM C. HAYS March 24, 1837 in Montgomery Co., AL, son of WILLIAM HAYS and MARY ?. He was born March 13, 1814 in Columbus Co., NC, and died January 03, 1878 in Alabama.
