Madeline
Upon my arrival at Coker College I heard tales of a ghost
that roamed the cmpus. The story goes back to when Coker
was an all girls school I cannot tell you all the information
about Madeline, although the library containes files on the
event. Madeline, according to student legend passed on, was
a student here. The college was an all girls school. She was
dating a professor at the school. She found her man to be
untrue and heartbroken, she hung herself in the old elevator
shaft. As the lore goes, she haunts the dorms and campus,
and protects the females from the men. Recently I had heard
a security guard at the campus say that he had saw her ghost
behind our music building. I am a skeptic. I had never
seen a ghost and therefore was not certain that they exsisted.
Around 3 or 4 in the morning, September 3, 1995 I became
a believer. I was in my new dorm room. The area was not
generally known for spectors. I was in my room with a friend.
All the lights were off.
The other person in the room, a male, did notice the light
but did not notice Madeline. They cannot find her picture
anywhere, and I am not sure what she looks like, this may
have just been something else, or an overreactive imagination.
I was terribly spooked, and I am not easily spooked.
