Testing Your Psychic Gift
If you wish to determine thether you have basic psychic capabilities,
sit in the same room with a group of other people, but at least two or three
yards away from them. At a given signal, concentrate lightly on any numeral between one and ten. For about thirty seconds, hold the thought of that numeral in your mind and visualize it being written on a piece of paper at the same time. Close your eyes when you do this. After thirty seconds, open your eyes and look directly at the proposed receiver of your message. Pause for a moment, and then do the same thing with another numeral until you have done it with five different numerals. At the same time, have the intended receiver write down whatever numeral he or she "gets" mentally. You also should write down the sequence of numerals broadcast from mind to mind.
When the experiment is completed, compare notes. Getting two out of five numerals correct is not unusual. Three out of five sometimes occurs, and four out five is most unusual. The sequence of numerals may be inverted, or numerals may be received out of sequence. This is due to the fact that telepathy works in a dimension in which time and space do not exist, but all of things--all thoughts--coexist simultaneously. Trying this with several receivers might be advisable, as people differ in their ability to receive telepathic messages.
The same method can be used to test for psychic capabilities with images, sentences, or visualization of thoughts, except that an entire sentence or visual concept is broadcast. Make the sentences short, though, and the visual concepts fairly simple, as it may be difficult to hold the thought of a very complicated image or a very long sentence in your mind long enough for it to be received. In this cace, keep the number of sentences or images to three per session, and record whether they are received completely, partially, or not at all. A 50-percent score would be a good indicator of psychic ability.
Another way to test for psychic ability is to try your hand at psychometry. This is best done on strangers or friends of friends--people you do not know personally. Try touching an object and giving a psychometric reading about the owner of the object(see psychometry for a detailed description of this procedure). Then keep a log of your statements and check in with the subjects of your readings later to see how accurate you turned out to be. If you find that you are accurate about 50 percent of the time or more, you are certainly seriously psychic.
Similarly, if you often--or even occasionally--have hunches or premonitions about people or events, write them down as they occur, so that you can check their validity later--and by all means obey them without question. Fifty perconet of "hits" is considered a good indication of some psychic ability. If you do this, you should find yourself becoming more turned into any premonitory feelings you do have, rather than brushing them aside or suppressing them, as many people do, often without even realizing what they are doing.
Testing yourself for psychic ability, especially if you have not yet had any experiences that would suggest it, can be valuable. However, most poeple discover their psychic ability through actual incidents in their lives, random happenings that indicate they have the ability to pierce the curtains of time and distance, or to receive information in ways other than the ordinary channels of communcation.
What many people call the "supernatural" is no such thing. There are some aspects of human personality and abilities that we do not yet fully understand, and that need further exploration. But being psychic is natural. Indeed, not being psychic is regrettable.
