blink 182 concert review

New Found Glory (sort of) and Blink 182 at the Champlain Valley Fair, Essex, VT

Aubrey and her mom picked me up at about 1:30.We stopped at the bank, then at Wal-Mart to buy ponchos, Pixy Stix, and Sour Patch Kids. Aubrey also bought eyeliner and a sharpener to write on ourselves. Then we set off…… In the car, Aubrey was playing "The Mark, Tom, and Travis Show", and she skipped over a song she didn't want her mom to hear, so her mom turned it back and blasted it!! It was so funny!! We were driving with, "Wouldn't it be nice to have a blow job" blasting, the windows rolled down, and in heavy traffic. This girl in her car next to us was looking at us really weird. When we got to the fair, we looked around for a bit, and then we split up. Aubrey and I almost immediately found some green and blue hair spray, which we sprayed in our hair. We called Aubrey's mom on her walkie-talkie, and we met up again. We saw Alison, so she came with us while we looked at all the animals and walked around the fair. We saw purple, pink, and yellow chickens, llamas, roosters, pigs, cows, ducks {I wanted to but a duck-they're so cute!} and a bunch of other animals. By then we were near the grandstand where Blink 182 was playing, and they were doing their sound check! We kept climbing on the fence to see them. They were really tiny from there, but you could hear them really well. Aubrey was almost passing out. For those of you who don't know Aubrey, she's OBSESSED with Blink 182, especially Tom Delonge. We walked around the grandstand for a while, trying to see over the fence. Then we went and walked around the fair some more. Alison met up with her parents and brother, and we made plans to meet up later. We went in this building 'cause it was starting to lightning and looked around. When we got out, it was raining. Aubrey and her mom out on their ponchos and I put on my windbreaker, and we went to Mickey D's. We got some food, and talked to weird people on the walkie-talkie. When we got out of Mickey D's, it was pouring! Aubrey didn't want to wear her poncho, so we switched. We ran to one of the first building in the fair, where we were caught in this huge thunderstorm! It died down a bit, so we walked and got stuck in the cow building, where there was another downpour. After it slowed down, we walked to the grandstand and stood in line to get in. A lady came around and checked our bags - she took our food and drinks, but luckily she didn't find the Pixy Stix and Sour Patch kids! When they opened the door we found our seats, which were in the 13th row, over to the right of the stage. We spread the ponchos over the seats so our butts wouldn't get wet. Aubrey and I went to check out the merchandise. We both wanted a sweatshirt, but the line was way to long. We saw Alison again and talked to her for a few minutes, then went back to our seats. What a surprise, it started raining AGAIN! We put back on our ponchos and raincoat, and sat for two hours….. New Found Glory was supposed to come out at 7, and Blink 182 was supposed to come out at 8:45. We waited and waited while it lightninged and rained. The stage guys covered the equipment with plastic sheets, and then started putting the plastic sheets over us. We were covered for a few minutes until the jerks behind us ripped the plastic. Aubrey's mom salvaged a piece for us. Finally, they started uncovering the equipment and Blink 182 came out! They were so funny! The stage was slippery from the rain, so Mark was sliding across it with his Mark grin. Tom slipped and fell on his face! They played a bunch of songs from Enema of the State and Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, like Online Songs, Story of a Lonley Guy, The Rock Show, All the Small Things, Whats My Age Again, Stay Together for the Kids, Roller Coaster. They also played 'Carousel' from Buddah {and Cheshire Cat} and 'Damnit' from Dude Ranch. Of course, Aubrey knew all the lyrics to all of Blink's songs, and I know quite a few of them, so we were singing and screaming. Aubrey and I screamed to Tom 4 or 5 times. At one point, Mark pointed out a guy who has holding up a shirt. The guy was practically in front of us!! Travis's drum set moved out and he did a kick arse drum solo. They also played a song from Take Off Your Pants and Jacket they've never played before! Towards the end, New Found Glory came out and used Blink's instruments to play 'Hit or Miss'. Aubrey and I were screaming and singing, but we were practically the only ones who knew they lyrics. Everyone looked at us really weird. It was an awesome concert. Aubrey and I went up to the stage after and tried to convince the guy to give Aubrey Tom's guitar picks, and he gave her one!! Walking out to the car, Aubrey and I jumped in all the puddles and soaked each other even more {if that's possible}. We got to the car and drove into Burlington to go to Dunkin' Donuts. We wrote funny things on each other with the eyeliner. On the drive home we had a, um, very interesting conversation about the male's atonamy. As I said before, it was an awesome concert!!!

PS. Mark had a pink bass, which I'm madly in love with.
PPS. the picture is of us, but you can't see us...
