chapter one
walking up the front steps of her high school, rayna sighed as flocks of people scurried around her, rushing to make it to homeroom on time. barely paying attention to the group of girls who were gathered around the locker next to hers, while they touched up on their already powder caked faces, she grabbed a few books from her locker and slumped into homeroom. she dropped into her seat, slamming the books on the desk attached to it.
' so this is what it's like to be on time.' she thought, looking around. she hardly made it to homeroom, due to her sister, who always got up a half hour before her but could never remember to wake her up.
next to her, a boy dressed in a long sleeve black shirt and gray pants, looked at her. she hadn't seen him before. she knew she looked pretty weird, next to all the gap-clad teens surrounding her.
" rayna, so glad you could make it." mrs. chase, her homeroom teacher, said sarcastically.
" my pleasure. " she replied, rolling her eyes.
" well, since you seem to be enthused, how would you like to show rob around?"
" who's rob?"
" the young gentlemen sitting next to you."
oh. right. the new guy.
" why don't you get chrissy to do it?" she asked her teacher, raising an eyebrow. " she's miss school spirit. i'm sure she would make a much better tour guide than me." she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. she heard a soft laugh from beside her.
" that's ok. i'd rather have you show me around." rob spoke up, looking at rayna.
" than it's settled. " mrs. chase smirked.
