chapter eight

Laura woke up once again thinking she was in her own room. She sighed, stretched, and got out of bed. Shuffling over to her bureau, she grabbed some clothes and heading into the shower. She emerged a few minutes later, and went downstairs to join Daniel for breakfast.
" Hey, " she said, kissing him good morning.
" Hey. Granola? " He held up the box of cereal.
" Sure. What time do we have to be at the rehearsal? " She asked. Alex and Cassie were having their wedding rehearsal. The actual wedding was to be held the next day.
" Ummm…In about 15 minutes. Hurry up, " he said, tickling her in the ribs. She stuck out her tongue at him.

" I wannnt youuuu to waaaannnt meeeee…." Alex buried his face in his pillow. " I neeed youuu to neeeeed meeeeeee……" He groaned. Cassy was singing in the shower again. He sat, then grinned. Tomorrow was his wedding day! He didn't blame Cassy for singing. Humming to himself, he thumped out to their kitchen and started fixing breakfast. The phone rang, and he snatched it up.
" Hello? "
" Well, don't you sound happy? "
" That's because I am."
" Good. You should be." It was Dave. " So, Laura's gonna be there, right?"
" Duh. She's the Maid of Honor."
" Hey sweetie!!" Cassie sang as she breezed into the kitchen, kissing Alex on the cheek.
" Hey, babe."
" Alex! I didn't know you liked me that way." Dave exclaimed.
" Shut up, Dave. I've gotta go. Bye." He hung up the phone quickly. He turned to Cassy. " Let's eat!" He placed two plates of scrambled eggs and toast on their small kitchen table.
" Looks good!" She said and dug in.
" Hurry up, we're gonna be late for our own wedding rehearsal." Alex said.
" I know." They scarfed up the rest of their breakfasts. " Let's go!!!"

" Wow…" Sam breathed as she entered the church.
" Cool, huh?" Dave asked as he came in behind her.
" Yeh. Who decorated it?"
" I think they hired someone."
" Yeh, that makes sense. This place is huge. Look, there's Laura and Daniel."
Dave's face fell. " What?" Sam asked.
" Are they, like, a couple now?"
" I guess so. They're holding hands."
" Yeh."
Sam glanced at him sideways. " You know, they've been together for quite awhile."
" Yeh."
" And they're living in the same house."
" You're not making this any better." Dave snapped before turning on his heel and storming away.
" What's up with him?" Cassy asked as she strode the door, Alex following.
" Nothing. So, it's the day before the big day! C'mon, we gotta get started. Everyone's here." Sam grabbed Cassy's hand and pulled her up the center isle.
" Wow." Alex said as he followed them. Absorbed in the decorations, he crashed into on of the pews. " Crap!" He cried, clutching his foot. Cassy turned and laughed.
" Aww, honey. Come on. You have to pretend to marry me now."

Laura walked slowly up the isle, trying to keep a straight face. She was holding a bunch of dandelions - her " bouquet ", and instead of wedding music, Staind was on the speakers. " Just Go " probably wasn't the best song to get married to, but they had to work with what they had. Daniel, who was Alex's best man, was singing along with the music.
" Daniel!" Cassy called.
" What?"
" Don't sing."
He stuck out his lower lip. " I feel insulted."
" You should. Keep walking."

" Well, that went well." Alex commented to Cassy as he climbed in their car.
" Yup."
" You're quiet."
" I need more coffee."
He laughed. " Yeh, caffeine's good."
" Yeh." Cassy paused. " Are you really nervous?"
" No, not really. I mean, I am a little, but not extremely. Are you?"
" No. Well, a little. I'm exhausted."
" We'll just get a lot of coffee. That'll get us through the day."
" I just need to get through tomorrow." Cassy muttered.
