GOOD ADVICE

>

WHY SHOULD I BELEAVE?

Why do I believe what I do?
Why do I have no god?
No higher power?
No Christ to turn to in time of need?
If I did, where would it have got me?
No god came to my aid when I was stranded 300 miles from home in a strange city.
No god intervened when my father made me beat his cock until he came.
No god stopped my cousin from taking that last fatal shot of heroin.
No god has ever shown himself to me on those nights when I begged for a reason to live, or to end my existence on the spot.
Christ died for his sins, not mine. I seek no absolution for "crimes against god" that have nothing to with any god in the first place.
If masturbation is a sin, then john Paul is dammed.
If lust is a crime, then lock me up and throw away the key.
I've toyed with the idea of conversion. That first confession would be a dusie. Imagine father Flanigian's face when I told him to "let me get my note book."
I would brush my teeth with his holy water, and perform sodomy with his crucifix . Rosaries make great anal beads with a little lubrication.
The question shouldn't be, why do I believe, it should be, why do you.
I see no visible proof that Elvis is still alive, so why should I believe otherwise just because some crackpot tells me that Elvis works at the Seven Eleven down the street as the weekend night manager?
I see evolution right in front of my face on a day to day basis, so why should I believe that I was placed here by the hand of some omnipotent deity.
If Christ died for my sins, dose that mean I can find another scapegoat?
An all-loving god wouldn't allow his creations to fight and kill each other just because they have different views of how god should be worshiped. Would Mass murderers such as Pol Pot and Hitler ever have gotten as far under the skin as they did if there really where an all loving, all powerful god?
And if so, why would he allow it? As a test of my faith? If it is then I failed to study.
But there is one thing I can say is true. If there is a god, we are made in his image.
Vain. Arrogant.
Hateful.
Ruthless.
Warlike,
Vengeful.

Yeah, I could love a god like that.
