Beckman Coulter is a world-wide corporation that supplies the world's medical, biological, pharmecutical and chemical industries with quality laboratory equipment. The range of products reaches from the companies first pH meters to robotic multi-channel pippetors and articulated robotic arms. SAGIAN Operations is the R&D center for laboratory automation and robotic integration for Beckman Coulter.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work as a design engineer on latest company projects
  • Lead project teams and document product design, manufacturing procedures, and test plans
  • Oversee manufacturing procedures for assembly of components and overall mechanical units
  • Complete multi-page assembly drawings of various versions of multi-channel robot
  • Communicate with Beckman Coulter headquarters in Fullerton, CA on project status
    Projects
  • Biomek FX Multi-Channel Pipettor
    -Participated in design of 96-channel robotic pipettor
    -Created manufacturing drawing and documention for instrument assembly
  • Biomek FX Span-8 Tube-To-Plate Pipettor
    -Coordinated plumbing design for fluid displacement pipetting
    -Redesigned spanning axis for proper belt tensioning
  • Multimek 96/384 Multichannel Pipettor Upgrade
    -Designed and lead design team for system upgrade
  • High Density Replication (HDR) Tool
    -Designed and lead design team for project

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, IN Summer 97
  • Worked in Technical Assistance and Services Center (TASC) doing research and design
  • Was responsible for several projects for entrepreneurs and small businessmen
    -Designed a fuel funnel that locked into fuel cell of drag car
    -Analyzed the mechanism of an athletic equipment launcher
    -Drew up schematics for an optical mirror mount on CAD Key

Summary of Skills:

Computer skills include: SolidWorks2001, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop, Paintshop Pro and Microsoft Office utilities such as Word, Excel, Project, Access and PowerPoint. Programming experience includes: BASIC, C++ and Fortran. Also machine level assembly language. My computer experience also includes formatting internet web pages.
I am a very dedicated, conscientious, and hard-working individual. When given a task I complete it efficiently using all resources available to me. I consider myself to be a 'people person' and work well with fellow colleagues.

Honors and Awards:

In my sophomore year at Rose-Hulman I was awarded with the Mayor's Commendation of Good Merit for service to the commmunity. That year I was also recognized by the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Iota Delta chapter, for outstanding community service.
I received the Presidential Scholarship Award for scholastic ability upon my graduation from high school. During my junior and senior year I was appointed to the Natural Helpers peer counseling group by my fellow students. During my senior year I was a elected Vice President of the National Honors Society.
