Dancing

The type of dancing I do has a few different names; Jazz Ballet, Jazz Dancing, Street Dancing, Modern Jazz, Modern Dance, etc.

I have been dancing for eight years, and I've decided to stop now. I'm soooooo totally unco and not that good but I enjoyed it anyway! hehe. I passed exams up to grade 5 and then decided just to dance for fun and not do them anymore. After that I did the work for the exams but didn't actually sit them.

At the end of every year the dance school that I attended had a show. These shows caused so much excitement, and were by far the highlight of the year! They also provided me with really good stage experience. Below are some photos from the shows:

This is my sunflower dance in 1994. I am third from the left in the front row. I was 7 or 8 I think.

This is the dorkiest costume that I've ever had to wear! It was for my 'Roll Over Beethoven' dance in 1996, and yes, I admit it, my mouth is open because I'm singing the song! lol :o)

This is my kung fu dance, at a dress rehearsal October 1997. I am second from the left in the top row. It's a very very bad picture of me! We sort of all look like little elves or something!

In 1998 I was in a dance called 'I See Red' by the New Zealand band 'Split Enz'. It was a maniac dance!! It was so fast we were basically running the whole time! That was the effect that my teacher wanted, believe it or not. It was great fun though, except it was so tiring!

This is the theme song from 'White men can't jump' although we changed it to 'Jazz Girls CAN Jump'! I did this dance in 1999.
This is the dance I was in for '00 (What the world needs now is love.) No, we weren't meant to be bumblebees, something just went really wrong in the designing of the costume! The metal rings are supposed to symbolise the world?!?! I'm at the very right of the back row.

For my final show at the dance studio, in 2001, my class did a dance to 'All she wants to do is dance' from the movie Coyote Ugly. Don't worry, it wasn't quite like the movie....
