Great to hear that TFF are to reform!! Saw them in concert at Birmingham Odeon during the Big Chair tour and later at Sheffield City Hall during the Seeds of Love tour. Was disappointed when the split was announced and by what I heard Roland say during a live interview with Garry Davis on Radio 1, I didn't really expect them to reform. Tried to get into Rolands solo TFF album 'Elemental' but couldn't. A few of the song lyrics were definately related to the split. Never heard any of Curts solo work. Welcome back lads!! Just wanted to say that in my opinion they are much better together I hope that they invest in some serious promotion this time out when they release a new TFF album, the best and fastest way to get to the masses is to do a video and then release a CD single to support the video, I know that when i see a song i like on one of the music channels the first thing i do is go look for it amongst the CD singles, i don't like to pay $16.00 for a whole album of songs just to get the one i like but i will pay up to $4.99 to get the song i want Diandra Lee

Here is a big dose of reality for all of you naive fans. I went to see Roland Orzabal when he had gone out on his own. Was suppose to get the chance to meet him. There were two "ladies" dressed scantilly in leather that were let in, and I never got to meet him. Here I am your average person dressed casually in cotton. (a portion of this post was removed to maintain the G rating of this site). Sure there music is marvelous. But the fans are what make these people. And not all of us are (blank) But I guess the rest of us don't matter.

What a hoot!! I just recieved my copy of Acting my Age. Boy did it bring back my high school years. My 11 yr old, who has been raised on a steady diet of TFF, laughs so hard at the pics of Curt and Roland. Of course I showed her pic of me in the 80's, and then she realized we all looked goofy then. After listening, she decided that looks aside, she really likes the music too. It was great to hear the bands start. Keep this site rolling. I get all the great news and of course then I have to purchase everything I can get my hands on. Can't wait for the new CD. Keep us informed so that those diehards like me can support this wonderful effort of renewed friendship and musical talent. Thanks again, Kell

Yes! A preview CD single in some kind of eye catching packaging would really rock, I am a long time TFF fan, and in the 80's TFF had some really awesome packaging.
Not to be a downer but the last releases from Roland "Tomcat's" and Curt "Aeroplane" are about as boaring as can be. If they want to attract a new audience base to add to all us longtimers, they need some innovative, eye catching stuff. Truth is, when I walk down the CD isles in my record store (Best Buy) many of the CD's just leap off of the shelves and catch your eye, begging you to stop and take a closer look at the artist. Come on Curt and Roland Get creative. I want you to rocket to the top!
it's the new millennium!!
You know I will buy anything Curt and Roland release but today's shopper who is not familiar with TFF just might need a bit of coaxing. It can't hurt

Hi,
Dermot from Dublin.
Quite simply, Roland is a genius. I have never been a TFF fan, caring more for Kraftwerk and Steely Dan. However, I recently revisited TFF albums from my '80's youth and have come to the conclusion that here was a talent that was never fully recognised.
TFF should continue with their music together. Simply for the aesthetic!
Regards
Dermot Ryan Dublin.

I have said this all along... Curt and Rolland have something musically magical about their talent mixed together. It is nothing but pure Tears for Fears. A very refreshing break from all the over produced crap. This 10 plus year break has been enough. This could be a smash again, because millions of people have been deprived of emotionally smart and fresh music that Curt and Rolland can deliver. All of this bombardment of back street, Brittany, and rap, is going to play right into the hands of the English boys. This world sometimes has unexplainable phenomenon of things that come together and make beautiful things. Curt and Rolland's music talents are one of them.
Tim Johnston, Forest Lake,MN
P.S. I thank god for the opportunity I have had, to meet and see both perform!!!!

Really, I've gotten into them a few years ago (I was born in '86, so I wasn't around for their prime) when I heard Everybody Wants to Rule the World on one of those 80s pop CD commercials. I couldn't remember where I knew the song, but I had liked it. In the past two or three years, I've bought the Millenium Edition, The Hurting, RATKOS, and Saturnine, and I must say, I am please with them all. I only wish I could see some of the original music videos.
Anyway, concerning the new album and tour, I'm all for it! I'd love to see them in concert live (hopefully they'd play in the big apple). They've got some new fans since you old-timers (hahaha, just kidding) were around to actually see them. Anyway, thanks for listening.

What's up Roland Orzabal? My name is Keysha. I'm from the US and I'm African-American. I've been a fan of TFF since I was around six or seven years old because of songs like "Shout," "Head Over Heals," and "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." TFF's music at that time really, really crossed cultural boundaries here in the US. Although I come from a predominately Black area, our varsity cheerleaders had cheers that they used to do back then that they made up using songs like "Shout" and "Head Over Heels." Now that is a real good sign of how deeply your music penetrated America. The only TFF cd that I have is a compilation cd that I recently bought. I was mainly writing because as I looked at different websites, I noticed that you really have strong beliefs concerning astrology. I also know that you love to read. Since I feel that you are an open minded man, I'd like to invite you to read in the New King James Version or regular KJV of the bible in the book of Acts chapter 14, verses 6-18, chapter 17, and chapter 2, verse 38. Maybe these chapters can give you insight as you continue your search for understanding why things are the way they are and who or what really rules the world.
Con mucho respeto,
Keysha

Hello all,
I just wanted to thank you for keeping this web site running. I have been a major fan of TFF since 1983. I have seen them perform every chance I have had. I really feel that the best concert I seen was at St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit, MI. This was for the Raoul album. Roland was just 3 feet away from me. This was the first time I had been so close and was really able to see how much of his own soul is in each song and performance.
I check your sites weekly to see if there is any new info. Because of you, I was able to purchase Tomcats, and am already geeked to purchase the new CD in 2003.
I have also been able to hook up with some wonderful people on the other side of the pond and have a growing collection of my own. (and I thought I had everything)
Thanks again for keeping die hards like my self informed and keeping their music alive.

after their Seeds of Love but then when I surfed the

Hello, you don't know me, but I am a 23 year old T.F.F junkie! I had a little troule getting my computer to cut and paste your survey, so I thought I'd just write!
Ever since I was about three, I always had my own radio in my room, and as a kid, I tuned into (and I still do!) musicians such as The Cure, Pet Shop Boys, the Human League, Thompson Twins, and of course, Tears for Fears! I knew all the words to "Head Over Heels" at the age of six, and at the age of 14, I sang my very first Karaoke song, which was "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." Their music has always had a certain 'darkness' to it, and once I find out that they were writing about their innermost pains, fears, and other childhood events, in an attempt to exorcise it, they appealed to me all the more. I've always had an appreciation for the lyrics, the voices, and the music itself. Roland and Curt are amazing! They way they have such command over their music and what they convey, is too unreal!
I don't remeber all of your survey questions, but I'll just give you the low down on my Tears for Fears fandamonium! -I own the following CD's : The Hurting, Songs From the Big Chair, The Seeds of Love, Tears Roll Down: Greatest Hits, Elemental, Raoul and the Kings of Spain, and Saturnine Martial and Lunatic. My favourite song is either "Ideas as Opiates" or "Famous Last Words" or "Sowing the Seeds of Love" or "Johnny Panic and the Bible of Dreams" -I can't decide! I used to record their videos off of MTV, and I may still have the tape! I have never been to a TfF concert, b/c I always have crappy timing, when they come. I have SOOO many pictures on my wall, other than The Cure, TfF is what you mainly see in my bedroom. I haven't heard Curt's or Roland's new CDs yet, but I plan to!!! When I was like 15, instead of day dreaming about boys, and cute guys at school, I would daydream about Curt and Roland showing up on my doorstep, saying something like "Grab your keyboard and your guitar, and let's go! You are part of the band!" Naturally, it never happened, but the daydreams spared me from much boredom, at times! I was DEVASTATED when I heard on the radio that they split! I was getting ready for school, and it completely ruined my day! Roland still has it, where it counts, don't get me wrong, as does Curt, and neither of them lost an ounce of talent or appeal, but when they are a duo, what they come up with is astounding. They belong together, no matter what kind of terms they are on as far as friendship goes. -But that's just my opinion, I guess!
Anyway, you are not the only TfF fan out there! I was glad to find your site and I was impressed. I plan to keep looking throught it whenever I can, but I guess I'd better go now. Take care, and keep one rocking to the guys!

I have been a very big fan of TFF and especially of Roland Orzabal. I am a fellow musician/artist of 26 years and I think Roland is an amazing talent! I really love his writing / production / and perfomance genious. I also write and record my own music and play professionally, but Mr. Orzabal is astoundingly good at it!! Initially,
I was a bit thrown off balance (I mean that in a good way) by TSO as I was with Raul & The Kings of Spain. However, after a few thoughtful listens through the TSO cd
I found this recording to be (in true Roland fashion) an absolutely wonderful creation!!
My brother in Boise, ID. heard "Low Life" on the radio and ran out and bought TSO that same day!! ..and he was not really a fan...until now of course. I, on the other hand, had been waiting for years (since Raul) for the next Roland jem! I am telling all my musician friends to buy this and other Roland cd's. I saw 2 of the LA area Raul shows and I am dying to find out about any possible tour supporting TSO. !!!!!
If anyone knows how to find out about tour info for TSO could you please email at indimusic@aol.com ?....I would greatly appreciate it!! "Roland!..thanks for sharing your great new music with us...your fans!.....Tomcats (in many ways) may just be your best project ever!!" ....Please come out to play!!! (in LA!)

Hello to all !
Me, my name's Sylvie, I am French and fan of Tears for fears since the
beginning, in France we knows them since their title ":Shout ".
Now they reform themselves, and want to take a new album together, I am
entirely okay with their choice ! That is well, it is that they evolved
each on their side, and the future new album should be very
interesting..... And then it is wonderful that they are not annoyed
anymore.
My titles favorites of Tff are: " Pale shelter ", " The hurting ", "
start of the breakdown ", Shout ", " Evrybody wants to... " The working
hour ", " I believe ", & the 3 other albums !.....
I made a Photoshop document for the birthday of Roland and I will like
that you publish it, if it is possible, of course ! And if it also
pleases you.
I will also like that you kept me regularly informed, of news of the
future new album of Tearsfor Fears together.
this time, that's all !
Sylvie, a fench fan of Tears for fears!

Hi all! My name is Chris from Indonesia. I've become a die-hard fan of Tears
4 Fears since 1985 when I first listened to their excellent song titled
"Shout". My favorite Tears 4 Fears' album is "Raoul & The Kings of Spain".
It's not easy to be a Tears 4 Fears fan in my country as they aren't very
famous over here and therefore it's very difficult to find their CDs
(especially the new ones, such as Roland's new album). Fortunately, I
managed to get Roland's new CD "Tomcats Screaming Outside" from my brother
who lives abroad. I quite like this new album as it has electronic sounds
which is something new in Tears 4 Fears'/Roland's songs. There are only 5
songs that I like from Roland's new album; "Ticket to the World", "Low
Life", "Under Ether", "Hey Andy!" and "Snowdrop". I rate the rest of the
songs as mediocre songs, especially "Hypnoculture". Anyway, I hope that the
news about reunion between Roland and Curt is not just a rumor cause I've
been waiting for that day… day by day by day by day by day…

Dear Roland and Curt,
Roland-wish you a very happy 40th birthday! I am a 24-year old man from Bombay, India. My native place is in Kerala in South India. Roland, to merely thank you and Curt for the wonderful and melodious music you made together in Tears for Fears, wouldn't be enough. I must admit that by the grace of God, I am fortunate enough to be able to enjoy and understand your music. I could relate to virtually each and every song you both made and it really makes me feel good that at least there are people like you both in the music industry who are on the same wavelength.
I could go on and on about how I feel about your music. However, to put it in a nutshell, your music is a reflection of the heart rather than the intellect. The best example of this is EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD, which I strongly believe is a song about awakening, that is, waking up from one's own ignorance. The message in it is spiritual and philosophical. I became a big fan after listening to that timeless classic and melodious song. It is my favourite track of all-time. Tears for Fears is a unique band and absolutely my all-time favourite.
The best news I received in this millennium, so far, Roland, was that you are re-uniting with Curt after a gap of nine years by putting your differences aside. There is nothing like both of you working together again.
Coincidentally, Lord Ganesha and Onam festivals are starting over here, in India, from today. May the Lord shower His blessings on both of you and keep you happy forever.
Regards and all the very best to both of you, your family and other friends. Take care. Bye!

Ajit G.Menon (A devoted fan of Tears for Fears)

Hi Folks,
I´m from Germany, 39 years old and a big big TFF Fan (Especially Roland)
since 13 years. "Tomcats screaming outside" is a brilliant album, only sad
that I don´t see any promotion for the album. Roland MUST come on tour and
introduce his album. This is the right time........... Back to the 80
´S...the best music ever.....
And I´m sure all the bands of the 80´s which are coming back now...you will
see, only the best bands will survive at 2001 and these are the Top bands of
the 80´s like TFF of course, Human League, Depeche Mode.
So I hope Roland will come on tour, alone, better would be with Curt.

music, Roland. I have your cd´s, I have seen some of

they are really really great. The sound of your music
is quite special, I have almost never listened to a

Send me your personal e.mail to talk about phylosophy. I do believe you are
a very intellegent man and that is why i am worry about you. You know that
this human form of life is very difficult to reach and we must avail this
life to inquire abou God and to stop with Samsara (the repeated chain of
birth and death). Since we have been too much entangled in this material
world with this ilusory energy called Maya
(what is not real) since time inmemorial.
Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita that the last thought at the moment of death
is what one reaches in next life by means of the subtle body so one must
train one's life in such a way that we can think of Godhead (Krishna) in
that fearful moment.
Hoping to hear from you soon

To: bigchair85@aol.com
I bought 'Tomcats Screaming Outside' about 2 weeks ago. Like most other
folks, it has taken a bit of time for the album to grow on me. But I must
admit, it is Roland's most accessible album since "Songs from the Big
Chair". Fans of Tears for Fears classic guitar-bass-drum driven songwriting
will not be disappointed by "Ticket to the World"; a track that would
immediately qualify for a new greatest hits album. Both David Sutton and
Nick D'Virgilio shine on this track. And the interplay between guitar,
bass, and drums is outstanding, outstanding, outstanding! Besides that,
other tracks that stand out for me, are "Day By Day," and "Snowdrop." The
decision to put "Bullets for Brains" and "For the Love of Cain" back-to-back
is part of what makes this a really successful disc. Both tracks have
terrific vocals, memorable hooks, and provide the album with it's only
genuine dose of upbeatness. "Hypnoculture" is fun, and a terrific bridge
between the two single-worthy opening tracks. It kind of reminds of "Music
for Tables." "Under Ether" is, in my opinion, one of the weaker tracks on
TCSO. "Dandelion" is raucous in the way that "Dog's a Best Friend's Dog"
was. In fact, I think both songs serve the same purpose on their respective
albums. Both "Elemental" and "Tomcats Screaming Outside" are very, very
mood-oriented albums. And "Dandelion" and "Dog's a Best Friend's Dog" seem
to nudge the listener and remind him/her that Roland hasn't forgotten how to
'rock out!' I'm not sure what to make of "Hey Andy"'s lyrics. The song is
likeable enough. However, I don't know why it was written. The two tracks
that take the longest to get used to, and for me are the most rewarding on
the CD are "Day By Day" (which is truly the album's only forlorn track and
therefore brilliant!) And "Snowdrop" which finally shows us Roland breaking
new ground aesthetically. It is a very, very cool song, much like a
snowdrop itself.
Overall "Tomcats" is a must-own for any real Tears for Fears fan. If there
is anyone who has had difficulty purchasing it online, I have a brand-new
copy that is for sale. Please e-mail me in confidence.

well I have had the album since the middle of april and I must confess I wasn't to sure at first, but hell, i felt the same about seeds of love side two, and every album since then. But that's what make the albums different; you play the tracks once or twice and think no, don't think i like that, then suddenly they hit you; it can be the beat the melody underlying the structure of the song, but something hooks me and that's it! it goes round in my mind , and you want to play the track again and again. The richness of the vocals too lifts the songs to make them special too, thats why Roland is for me the song writing genius that he is.

This album is so great. Its prefect headphone music. Its like very expensive Chocolate .....You just want to savor it for a while. I bought this new album, along
with the "low Life" single on April 18th , 2001 . All imported of course, but worth the cash spent. GO GET IT what are you waiting for.....? I must tell also that if ever get to see Him ( Roland Orzabal) in concert -Go. I saw him in Portland , Oregon a few years ago . I even got him to sign my CD of Raoul and Kings of Spain . We even chatted for a few minutes ,before He and his wife went into the Hotel . It was a great experience and Roland was very courteous to stop and pay me some FAN attention , which was very much appreciated .
Hope this helps,
Darhawk

I just got it this morning and fortunately had to drive quite a bit today.
So I got to listen to the CD almost 3 times.
On my first listen I was disappointed and thought that one should listen to
the CD "Under Ether". But that always happens to me. if I like a CD right
away I seem to quickly tire of it.
Anyway, now, hours later I rate it very enjoyable. Roland seems to have a
way with ambience that is apparent on this album.
How come we can't post on his website?

Absolutely Brilliant,
I loved every track but my current favourites are day by day, dandelion, hey andy and snowdrop.
What sickens me is that I have seen no reviews here in England and so far no airtime. I am looking forward to a tour.

Hey:
I have always been a huge fan of Roland and Curtis, but especially Roland. Music has always been a big part of my life, all kinds of music.
But I would have to say, if there's one person in the business I'd love to meet someday, it would be Roland. And coming from me, that's a bold statement. What talent he has! If I had one wish granted, it'd be to sit in on a recording session of his - how cool would that be!
I was wondering, what he's up to these days and if he's got plans to reunite with Curtis, and tour. I have been searching the internet for some news on Roland, and outside of his new work "Low Life", I've heard nothing. Can you please fill me in on any details?
Thanks in advance....
Susan Z.

THIS IS ROLAND'S BEST STUFF SINCE ELEMENTAL (My fav TFF album)!!!! (And RATKOS is my 2nd favorite TFF album) I LOVE this record. Favorite tracks: Bullets For Brains, For the Love of Cain, Dandelion, Under Ether.... I love the rest of the album, but these seem to be the stand out tracks in my opinion. I hope Roland can find the appropriate audience for this effort. I think, that more people should share in the experience of this album. Lets not tlet all the horrible boy bands and talentless Britney Spears dominate radio with their drivel!!!!! LET'S GET ROLAND BACK AT ROCK RADIO in the U.S!!!!!!!!! Subj: How Times Change

Hello,
I am 40 SWF from OKlahoma City (this is not a singles ad in case you were worried ;) and was always extremely crazy about Roland for years. I recently bid on EBAY and got a rare video of TFF Songs from the Big Chair and have watched it over and over. His talent is amazing and I have to admit I was totally in love with his looks, talent, and the way he presented himself in expressions and that ever so cute smile. Tonight I came online and looked him up for the first time. I was not prepared for some of the images I saw of him. This was an extremely attractive man and what is with all the black eye makeup? This man's voice is about as perfect as a voice gets. His hair style was all I ever use to talk about and his smile cut me like a knife. I've never seen such perfection and dedication when he plays his guitar nor ever been more mezmerized just watching him...but this new image..I just can't see those puppy dog eyes and comforting style he had. I hate to say it but it reminds me of Marilyn Manson (OMG). He stood out way beyond anyone in the TFF's band because he was just that dang good. (Manny was an exceptionally great drummer I might add) but Roland stole the show. That voice...that face. I'm sure I will LOVE anything he releases because of his talent..but I really will miss that image he portrayed before I saw these new images. I know life moves on..and maybe I'm just not moving with it but I use to dream about this guy and I am just astounded at the physical change. The talent was and always will be there. Sorry about this but I just HAD to say something and I just had to be honest. I'm sure my opinion is one somewhat bad one in a trillion but just to say hello to such a talented individual is indeed an honor in my book. So hello and I wish you MUCH success in your new Release. I'll still miss that great hair style you had though! :) I'd still come to see you in concert just to hear you sing with that amazing voice if you ever come my way. Thank you for all the wonderful songs of the past that I can't live without.
Sincerely,

Hello
I've been a devoted TFF fan since 83' bought all the albums etc, but i have to say that the "Tomcat's" album just has to be the best work that Roland has put together over the years,a little bit of everything, well worth the wait.Just got it last week
( a lovely birthday present) and it hasn't left my cd player, in fact i'm so hooked by
Roland's voice, that i could listen to it day and night and still go back for more.
Thank's Roland, for the new sound and for your fantastic new web site but why
didn't you release the " low life " single in the uk??? dissapointed!!!!
I'm looking foward to more of your work here in the uk, perhaps a tour this time,
us fans all love you in this country too y'know!!!!!!!
I LOVE every song on the new album but i think my favourite has to be " Day by
day" closely followed by " Kill love" and " Snowdrop", it's hard to define but the lyrics,
the new beat and the unmistakeable voice, all make up a wonderfull album that every
fan should have. More please Roland!!!!! Kind regards

Hi, I have been a HUGE TFF fan since the early 80's, especially Roland. I love his voice and think he is a genius. And from what I have heard it sounds like he has done it again, especially with Bullets For Brains and Low life. Well, I am basically writing because I need to know if on April 04th Roland's album will be available for purchase everywhere? This may sound dumb, but I just don't want to miss buying this. I am literally counting the days until it comes out, it sounds great! I loved Raoul and the kings of Spain, it was an awesome CD and his sound with Oleta Adams on Me and My Big Ideas was breathtaking as always, that song is a masterpiece. His lyrics are so deep and meaningful. He is truly an artistic master at what he does. Anyhow, any input on the album would be great, as far as the release.
Thanks,
Mary Kay

I used to say that I dont like the sound from the 80's very much. My opinion changed recently as I Listened to Roland's music more carefully. I used to think of the 80's as "to much synths" and in the 90's, when 'everyone' got bored of it, came some need for more live music and musician without makeup. Even if Elemental had its own new sound, people would still associate TFF with 80's. That was my mistake. So I'm a new fan of Roland. You can laugh at me! I've missed the train. The same thing happened with TheThe. I've been listening to music from the 80's almost all the time for the last year. The worst is that I think many people are about to do the same thing as I. We'll see...
I have listened to the new album samples a lot. Bullets for Brain and snowdrops got my attention first. Dandelion did not impress me, mostly with the lyrics. The bassline in under ether seems to be out of hell. The voice of Roland in snowdrop and Daybyday... his unbeatable. Hey handy and Kill love shows some well worked fast drum beats surprisingly mixed with a jazz style smooth singing. Hypnoculture sounds PetshopBoys 100%. Love of cain as great slides guitar. Maybe are days are... makes me dream instantly. These are only my little impressions, The full album wont deceive me, I'm sure. I have bought it already and I hope it will be as good has his two last albums.

It's great to hear that Roland has been back in the studio again. I
can't wait to hear the new album. Even if it is only half as good as his
past efforts it is bound to be terrific. The sound bites that I have

can't be released soon enough in my humble opinion. It has been far too

I BELIEVE THAT MAGIC IS A GIFT THAT IS PASSED ONLY UPON THOSE WHO ARE BLESSED TO RECEIVE IT'S MESSAGE. TEARS FOR FEARS MUSIC HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN INSPIRATION TO ME. ROLAND IN MY OPINION IS AN EXTREMELY TALENTED INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS NEVER SOLD OUT TO THE MASSES. THE MUSIC HAS ALWAYS REMAINED PURE AND TRUE WITH NO COMPROMISE TO ITS ESSENCE. I REMEMBER ONCE READING A STEREO REVIEW MAGAZINE AND DISCOVERING THAT THEY RAVED ABOUT RAOUL AND THE KING OF SPAIN ALBUM. NOW THIS WAS A SURPRISE TO ME BECAUSE THEY NEVER RAVE ABOUT ANY MUSIC I LOVE. THE ARTICLE STATED THAT ROLAND AGAINST THE PRESSURES OF POPULAR MUSIC AT THE TIME COMPOSED AN ALBUM THAT CONTAINED ESSENCE. I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED TEARS FOR FEARS WITH BOTH MEMBERS AS WELL AS A PART. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM REUNITE BECAUSE THEY COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER. ONE THING THAT HAS ALWAYS BOTHERED ME WAS THE LACK OF EXPOSURE TFT HAS ALWAYS RECEIVED HOWEVER, ITS STILL A BEST KEPT SECRET. THANKS FOR THE GREAT MUSIC AND PLEASE KEEP PUTTING IT OUT.

Roland is an absolute music
"GOD"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When this life is over, I hope the Angeles have listened to his music,
and better yet, have heard all the thoughts that have never been penned,
all the rhythms that haven't been felt, all the melodic chord changes
never imagined, and will bless the almighty with what Roland could have
produced if he would only have let the rest of the world into his space.
The Beatles and others get so much credit, but I haven't heard one single
soul on this planet that has as much musical talent as Roland keeps
locked inside his little toe. He is MUSIC in the Flesh!!!!!!!!! He
almost seems like a Deity, When you think about it.....He only lets you
hear what he has to say, when he's ready...........
Roland...........................................You are the King Of
Music......of the 20th century anyway. I know that everyone has
influences, but no one can assemble a century like you can.

My wife and I have been huge Tears for Fear's fans since they released their first album. A reunification would be fantastic. Let's hope the chemistry is right and they can produce some more musical magic. We were disappointed when they split, but we love Roland's solo efforts (Elemental & Raoul and the Kings of Spain), and thought his concert tours for each were fabulous. A new album and concert tour by Roland are long overdue for us. A Tears for Fear's album with Roland and Curt would be "icing on the cake."

Reunion? Oh, I don't know if it sounds good or bad. It seems both guys have
an interest in doing it... Roland's brand equity is gone and Curt has
totally disappeared. I think it's the end of the line for this thing. I
really wish it wasn't. I'm a huge fan and still really get off on their
stuff. But something about it bothers me intuitively. The band has run its
course. From here on out, it becomes an old-timers game (do you have those
in England?).
I'd love to hear something really playful from those two. But why anyone
except marketing executives would get excited about Curt rejoining is a
mystery. He was a silent and absent partner for his last five years, and
never deserved much credit for making the band what it was. I'm not trying
to be nasty -- he may be a great guy. But the songs were Roland's, and
eventually Curt played less of a role than some of the studio musicians.
It's a marketing move, folks. Too bad.
Best wishes. Really.

Hello there.. My wife & I have attended every "Tear For Fears" production since we met 13 years ago (In the Tampa/St. Pete Fl area). The music, lyrics & overall romantic essence of their creations has played somewhat of a role in the (incredible) relationship I have with my WIFE. (SOUL MATE) . Anyway, I hope Orzabal will continue to write and create songs that most of us can not; but many of us feel. To answer your ??? A CD would be my choice.
P.S. If any tour info is avail....Pls Email back..Thanx cybrstv@aol.com Subj: Tears For Fears

I have been a TFF fan since the early 80's and I am really excited about a possible TFF reunion. They are my favorite band in the world!! I lived in Kansas City, MO back in the 80's and even visited the Peppercorn Duck club where they first spotted Oleta Adams. Is this a rumor? I certainly hope not! I would be so disappointed.

HI,
I have been a tears for fears fan since I was 17 (I am now 36) and the
album "The Hurting" has helped me live many times over. First I had the LP,
which I still have (and we won't discuss what I had to do to get my EX to
let me buy it). Then I had it on cassette, it was a permanent fixture in my
car stereo and then it became a really permanent fixture in there, it got
stuck in there. Then the car died and I couldn't get the cassette out, boy
was I mad. Then I got it on CD which made me very happy. I think at this
point my favorite is "Seeds of Love".
Anyway I would much rather have it on Disc, I also prefer to have the
artwork, lyrics, and any photos included. Thanks for the great page and keep
up the good work!
Thank You,
Darlene Kaufmann

I am so excited about them getting back together. Personally, I hope the reunited material sounds like the Seeds of Love cd. I think that was there best cd. It was jazzy and up beat. I cannot wait to see them together in concert again. They are my all-time favorite band. I have all of TFF's cds and also all of Curt's cds. There solo material does not sound as good when they apart. Them getting back together is something that I have always wished would happen. I am so stoked. Keep me updated on the most current news. Thanks. Jim from Brandon, Fla.

I indeed love the fact that I can listen to a new soon-to-be-released CD by Roland or Curt or TFF, before it has even been released. There is absolutely no doubt that I will immediately purchase it when it is released, as I do prefer to listen to it on a CD format, i.e., in my car, on my CD Walkman, on my home stereo, etc. So, I do appreciate the fact that I can preview the much anticipated new music and new release, however, for my personal use, I would listen to the CD.
Thanks for the opportunity to voice my opinion. Best of luck to this great website.
Keep up the excellent work! TFF Rocks!

While being able to download songs/albums from the internet has its
place, I prefer to have an actual commercially available CD. I prefer
this because the artwork and liner notes are often interesting to me,
and can be considered a collectible in itself. I look forward to a new
release from Roland in early 2001. Thanks for the advance notice as I
will be looking for it (and probably bugging the heck out of the
employees at the local CD warehouse about a release date). I still am
hopeful that we may actually see some new TFF stuff with Roland and Curt
together in the not too distant future.

It remains to be my favorite c.d. "tears roll down" (Greatest Hits) 82-92 . and I'm not ashamed to tell anyone who ask's. I can't wait for the new stuff. Keep us all updated. caroline Ramdawah

Bigchair,
Let me tell you. I am so happy that these guys are collaborating again. Life is just too short. I was in junior high when I first heard 'Pale Shelter' and it seemed to me that this band knew every emotion and every sorrow that I felt. Being a bit older now, I understand that even these guys put their pants on one leg at a time just like the rest of us, but there will always be a special place in my heart where a thirteen year old girl sits in her bedroom listening to the world through the lyrics of Tears for Fears. Thanks for everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dawn M.

Look, I do not know what brought Tears for Fears apart. I do know that the music that they maid has it's meaning. And it being a meaning of truth and what straight up gets to you from the heart emotionally. And if you let it get to you like that, it feels so all right. All I am saying is that, "Where are they?, where are the rest of those tears for fears? In a time when they most belong.

Hello,
I am a big fan of Roland Orzabal's / Tears For fears. I saw him in Atlanta, GA in a small venue, and that was the best musical experience I have ever had. You could feel the power from the stage. Everyone singing along. I had purchased the Raul and the Kings of Spain CD about a month before and sang along to those lyrics.
I am an astrologer, and I feel Roland has some interest there too. His lyrics in Cold from the Elemental CD (my all-time favorite CD and song), I assume he has Capricorn rising. I do too. I like to run charts of my favorite musicians and artists and look for comparisons that explain the attraction. I found out today 8/22/61 is Roland's birthday. I did a chart with London as the birth place and cast a birth time of 6:30 PM to make Capricorn rising. I see he has a Capricorn Moon, also like I do, and if this place and time is close, Moon in the 12th house like I do as well.
Is there any way you can confirm the birth place and birth time for me? It is only for personal interest. I would appreciate it if you could.
Hope Roland will bless us with a new release in the near future. I love his voice, lyrics and guitar. The Kings of Spain didn't get much airplay around these parts, which is a shame. I love it. Can't wait for something new.
Thanks for listening,
Robert in Texas

I cannot comment on a possible reunion re:Tears for Fears, simply because my heart will forever be stuck in the 80's. I'm 27 now, and as a young girl of 12, I started listening to this group, and it really struck me. Not fireworks, mind you, but just....the music. It was different, the lyrics had meaning, and oh yes.....I had a huge school girl crush on Roland Orzabal. But for the last several years, TFF has been my favorite group. My fave song is one that was obviously inspired by true life events: "Woman in Chains". But I must say now, after visiting this web site for the first time, I am ecstatic because theres a song I heard about 3-4 years ago while sitting in a (yes) Taco Bell. I KNEW it was Roland Orzabal's voice, yet I'd never heard it before. I have searched for so long for this song, listened to all the CDs for I own them all except for one. Rauol and the Kings of Spain.
The only one I dont have, nor have listened to, and tonight I heard the song. Finally, I found it. "Secrets" is the name of it. I listened to a clip, and about had a spasm because I realized that THIS was the one I fell in love with, having only heard a few lines several years ago. So, I'm glad that sight was there.(At Tower Records). In any case, let me finish by saying I think Roland is a wonderful, articulate writer who's heart it seems goes into every song. Thats rare, and I truly admire the man for dedicating himself so deeply.
Thank you

I have Curt's 93 release "Soul On Board". It is a decent album; the title track is just brilliant. Almost worth buying the disc for that purpose. Outside of that, I haven't seen nary a Curt Smith disc. In fact, that was an import. So, as far as Curt is concerned, I think it would be great; I'd get to hear him again. He and Jim Kerr were probably my favorite vocalists back in the 80's.
As far as Roland's post Curt work, I thought that Elemental and Kings were excellent. Very balsy stuff. Besides, in my opinion, there are not two many folks who can construct a song as well as he does. Great lyrics. Good concert in Minneapolis back in 96.

I really found out TFF around 1984 1985 with the" Shout "and" Everybody
wants to rule the world" release. Great texts, great sound. I ve been
lucky to see them in concert in Avignon ( France) in 1989. The band was
at this time performed with Roland Orzabal , Curt Smith and the talented
Oleta Adams. Just grandiose and magic. I also attended to their concert
in Toulon (France) in 1995. A great Orzabal with such a remarkable
musical opening for the kings of Spain. It s still such a big souvenir.
But now, I can just imagine how wonderful it s going to be since they
have been working together from last january for a next release.
Congratulation and I do hope to see you soon on stage.

As great as a reunion would be, I think the only reason why they would get back together would be money...
As Tears for Fears, it was obvious that Roland was the "brains" behind the duo. Musically, Roland (as Tears for Fears) solo has released some incredible music.
He has grown as an artist. The maturity from "Elemental" to the breath-taking "Raoul and the Kings of Spain" is amazing.
Orzabal has been testing all musical styles and personally, I would love to see where he takes it. The "Ticket to the World" single is just another piece of proof that he wants to take his fans along for the ride.
While Roland was exploring, Curt was releasing b-list material that insulted his fans.
"Soul on Board" and "Aeroplane" showed about as much range as a Daisy Air Rifle and maybe proved to the world that Roland was the strength in Tears for Fears.

Hello Everyone!

We are always adding more info and pics we update monthly...
Now on to the meat of my e-mail - the reunion....
I would love to see it (a reunion) as most of you would. However, my most sincere wish is that Roland and Curt find their way back to being friends. I think this is the most importatnt aspect of them talking again. The "business" is notorious for wreaking havoc in the lives of people involved. It has long been my opinion that this IS what contributed to the demise of their friendship in the first place. The world is an uncertain place for anyone, let alone people who have a great deal of their lives put "under the microscope". So whatever they decide to do I support them and only wish them the best. -Michele R.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF ROLAND AND CURT REUNTING AND PERFORMING AS TEARS FOR FEARS AGAIN?
"Everybody Wants To Rule The World" is in my view the greatest pop song ever recorded. Several of TFF's other songs are up there on my list of all-time favorites - and mainly the ones where Curt sings lead to a song Roland has written, like "Everybody", "Advice", and "Change". Their best collaborative work is truly classic - it just never gets old, even through all the big changes in rock and "alternative" music that have happened since. If there is more collaborative stuff where that came from, then the world has good reason to rejoice!

I am beyond excited about this because Tears For Fears are the most creative and extraordinary band I have ever experienced. I myself would like to be a musician some day and if i make it, i will announce them as my main influence. I would give anything for them to be back together and releasing more music, along with touring so I can see them in concert for the first time.
Love,
Leah B.

Well its about time!! I am so happy to hear that the two are at least thinking about making TFF music. I guess they have been able to push aside their egos and take time to consider the music, after all its the music that is important. Roland and Curt you have my support. I look forward to buying your new music, but please don't take years and years to do it.
Thanks

I was so upset when I bought Elemental and there wasn't Curt! Hearing the
news that TFF might be all TFF again made me cry!! These two together were
like Fred and Ginger or...well, you know what I mean! Their music was
phenomenal and Elemental was definitely lacking in something without them
together. I didn't bother to purchase the last two albums, nor have I even
heard them. This news makes me so happy. My very first concert ever was
TFF and it still is the best concert I have ever been to-even now 15 years
later! This news is the greatest!! I know they had differences and that's
why they split, but if they ever read this..."Curt and Roland, the die-hard
fans are like sponges. We will soak up whatever creations you may come up
with!" May they go on as long as the Stones!

I love your site and I look forward to more work from Roland and Curt, at long last.
There is something mystical about these two men's abilities to reach down and jerk the listener by the base of their spine without having to break a sweat. I sing along with as much feeling as the depth of the lyrics and the complicated melodies invoke. WHOOPEE!!! It's about TIME for more "Tears for Fears!"

Alas, i have a reason to go on!! :-) The news of a possible reunion was the
best news i have heard in a LONG time.. I think Curt and Roland are two of
the best looking men on the planet and most definetely the two most talented
singers/songwriters/musicians/poets..the list goes on. I fell in love with
TFF in 1982, and now, just short of 20 years later, I still am a die hard
devoted fan. Their music touches me in a way that no other music ever has or
ever will. They know, they understand.. Who else can you say that about? i
saw another fan ask if there was a was to contact them. Do they have a site
i might have missed (Lord knows i looked) to e-mail them or another way to
praise them?

I always had such a crush on Roland when they were big in the 80's, I guess I never have let it go....I first discovered them with the song, "shout" and it was sort of an anthem in my self discovery in pre-teen years. We all have a tendancy to stick with those groups and the music they made that told us we weren't the only ones that felt that way about things. I have a greatest hits cassette, and need to get the CD, I'm wearing out the tape....I really can't beleive it's lasted this long...and I still like those songs from the early years.
Although I enjoy "Raoul" too...

My wife and I saw Roland touring singly as "Tears For Fears" while promoting his "Raoul and the Kings of Spain" album in San Diego. It was a tremendous show, but Curt Smith was sorely missed. This reunion news is certainly welcome.
With the release of "Fish Out of Water," and its obvious allusions to Curt Smith, I wasn't sure these two lads from Bath would ever find their way back together. I, like many other fans, am cautiously optimistic.

Now that we have the Internet and can talk to anyone online. Is it all possible that Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal have email address where people can talk to them online without knowing where they live? Actually my question is do Curt and Roland have email address where they can receive letters from people around the world?
I'm a big fan of TFF and would like to know if I can email them a letter.
Please email me the information I requested in this letter.
Thanks,

I think a reunion would be wonderful! I have been fan since the 80's like most fans, and just to keep it all straight in the fan's view, it would be better in my own flimsy opinion to keep the original name that I've always known.
I, too, would buy anything R.Orzabal does, but a group reunion would be better. I'll look forward to it.

My prayers have been answered! I absolutely love TFF, & Roland & Curt individually! They are my most favorite musicians in the world! I have been their #1 Fan since they started making music, & I will forever be. Everyone that knows me knows that I am a major TFF lover. The last time I saw TFF was at the "Raoul & the king of Spain" tour! It was so great to so Roland, however, I missed not seeing Curt there and was so sad that they still were not back together. I have followed both their continued careers with much loyalty, and even on their own musical endeavers, they continue to astound me. I love them!! (have I said that enough?). If there is anything that I can help with or be a part of with these prolifically talented guys and their wonderful music they give to the world and espescially to my soul PLEASE! count on me. I would love to give back the happiness that they have given to me. I always have a TFF or Curt Smith cd on all my stereos listening to them frequently. If I was going to be stranded on a tropical island and I could take only one cd with me, it would no doubt be TFF! I love TFF!!! And when I heard Curt Smith at Richard's farewell party, say that he and Roland had been talking and possibly getting TFF back together again, I jumped for joy!!!!! This good news made my day, my week, my month, etc! I am so very very happy and can hardly wait to hear more of them, and hopefully see them perform again they are so awesome! Please contact me with any TFF info. if you need my help, I live in Los Angeles (where Curt lives) and my e-mail address is Lymen1@aol.comm Forever TFF Fan, Lynn
P.S. I'm listening to the "Sowing the Seeds of Love" cd as I write this, I love TFF!!! Subj: Curt & Roland reuniting....

Hi,
This is welcome news! I couldn't believe Curt Smith leaving in the first place, but I did enjoy the direction that Roland took TFF. The last two cd's are so well-produced, they are astonishing to listen to on headphones (try it!). What is really nice about the two of them getting together is that they are friends again; if they record together, it's fine. If they don't, at least they have made up. It's a plus for all TFF fans.

This could be one of the best things that could happen musically. I
have all of the TFF albums, and just today got the Mayfield CD by Curt
(how ironic). Tears for Fears IS BEST with both of them together. I
thinks each person's voice complements the other's so well. I am
hopeful that this will come to fruition. P.S. Bring in Oleta Adams on
some of the tracks too. Excellent choice in the past. Anyway, glad to
know that the two are again speaking and writing and hope to see
something from the BOTH of them in the near future.

I think that it would be GREAT to see Curt and Roland back together
again as Tears For Fears.
I have been a fan of theirs sense the early 80's and have all of their
releases and the video Tears Roll Down (Greatest Hits 82-92), as well as
Roland's solos that he performed in the 90's.
Curt and Roland are perfect together with their music and I would love
to see them come back again. If they come out with a new release, I
will be the first in line to purchase it.
Tears For Fears completes the band with Curt and Roland.
I wish Curt and Roland the very best of luck. No matter what happens I
will support them both and will remain their faithful fan.
Also if Curt and Roland are looking for people to help with a fan club
please keep me in mind and let me know. This is what I would love to do
for them.
With lots of love and support to you Curt and Roland.

Dear BigChair85,
A rose is a rose, right? I'll buy Roland's music even if he sells
it under the name "Guido," just tell me where to find it. And in response
to the suggestion that a new name could allow Roland "a fresh start": Has
this person ever listened to a T4F piece? The last thing Roland needs, is a
fresh start. Unless of course, you're working under the principle that,
every now and then, you need to Break It Down Again.

I HAVE BEEN A HUGE FAN SINCE 1983.I LIVED IN JAPAN WHEN PALE SHELTER WAS A POPULAR SONG. I LOVE THE DARK TEXTURES OF THE LYRICS AND THE MUSIC. I WAS A RELIEF TO AGAIN HEAR THOSE TEXTURES ON RAOUL. I ALSO THOUGHT MAYFIELD WAS A GREAT ALBUM. IF ROLAND RELEASES HIS NEXT ALBUM UNDER R.O. OR T4F IT WOULDNT MATTER TO ME. I THINK IT WOULD EFFECT SALES, IF THATS A CONCERN, BUT TRUE FANS SHOULDNT CARE.
