The Game (Part 2)
Jennifer
It's been two days since Buffy wrapped my sweaty tank top around my bloodied knees wearing
only bloomers. Well, if there was anything else, I don't remember. In my mind I can clearly see
those maroon bloomers. I'm still hobbling around and as a result my active duty restriction has
been extended a week. Walsh is getting pretty uptight with me. I can tell she's become quite
disillusioned with my commitment. And I know I have to remedy that and quick. Because no one
is as committed to The Initiative than I am.
I leave class immediately following Walsh's lecture. I have hours of research on three new
Hostiles and I feel it is a good way to show Walsh I'm not backing down a bit, regardless of my
physical status.
While I gingerly make my way across the courtyard path towards my house, I can hear Buffy
calling out to me. I can tell she's jogging or perhaps running to catch up with me so I stop and
turn toward her. When she reaches me I greet her with a simple, "Hello Buffy."
"Hey," she says smiling, unaffected by her sprint across the courtyard. "Give me this." She
proceeds to take my backpack from my shoulder and sling it onto her own. She then starts
walking.
"Buffy, what are you doing?" I ask hobbling my way after her.
"Carrying your books."
"You don't have to do that."
"I don't have to do anything, Riley. I want to."
"It's not necessary."
"Look, just call it my way of showing you that chivalry is not dead."
"I thought the man was supposed to carry out the chivalrous deeds," the words escape my
mouth before I realize how idiotic they sound.
She stops walking and looks at me. "Riley, you're totally medieval." She then drops my backpack
to the ground and turns toward my house again.
I pick up my bag and then follow a couple paces behind her. "Buffy." I call. "Buffy wait."
She turns on me again. I stop before her and look down into her face. I can see a slight flash of
anger in her eyes. "You're not going to make this easy, are you?"
I grin at her, truly loving every minute of it. "Nope."
She walks me to my door and then says goodbye as soon as I'm inside. She catches me by
surprise and I ask her if she's coming in.
"Nope," she quips devilishly. "Maybe another time." She then turns and strolls away.
I watch her as she goes, hips and ass swaggering slightly as she walks. And I know just by
looking at her that she's shaking for my benefit. I smile as close the door and then head toward
The Initiative complex access elevator.

He's impossible. He's utterly and completely impossible. But even though he's giving me a hard
time, I know he's close. So I decide that I will pull out the heavy artillery a little early for this
Riley ambush. And while Graham is a little hesitant to give me access to Lowell House this
weekend, he simply couldn't say no to my Slayer charm...
