The Wallabies
The Wallabies are the only Rugby Union side in the World to have won the prestigious Rugby World Cup TWICE!!
The first time was in 1991 in when the World Cup was played in England. The then captain Nick Farr-Jones received the William Webb Ellis (Bill) trophy from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It was at this stage that the Australian team in true Aussie style nicknamed the trophy "Bill". The 1995 South African World cup was disappointing to the Wallabies but they launched the campaign "Bring Back Bill" for the 1999 World Cup. with the new Coach on Board Rod MacQueen it was anticipated that the Wallabies would make history, and history they made. Bill is now securely in Australian hands until the 2003 World Cup that is being held here in Australia.
I have always been an avid fan of the Rugby and always watch the Wallabies in action. One of my most favorite competitions each year is the battle with the New Zealand All Blacks over the Bledisloe Cup. I have actually had the privilege of holding the Bledisloe Cup and it is huge!. the one trophy that seems to elude the Wallabies is the Tri Nations Trophy. New Zealand and Sth Africa have won it in the past but hopefully this is the Wallabies year!
