Chapter 2

That night, Julia was in the guestroom in the bed sleeping. She was tossing and turning. Suddenly, she woke up. She began crying. She had a nightmare about her father. He died to cancer, and Julia missed him terribly. When she stopped crying, she got out of bed and walked down the hall into Nick’s room. She stood by his bed. A tear came down her cheek.

“Nicky...”she whispered. He didn’t wake up.

“Nicky,” she said a little louder and nudging him. He woke up.

“Huh? What? Julia?” He asked half asleep.

“Nicky...” She said about to cry again.

“Julia! What’s the matter?” Nick asked sitting up, wide-awake.

“I had a bad dream...about my daddy,” she said sniffling.

“Were you crying?” Nick asked. Julia nodded. Nick got out of his bed and hugged Julia.

“Can I stay here tonight? With you?” Julia asked.

“Yeah,” Nick answered climbing in and letting Julia lie next to him.

“Goodnight Jules,” Nick yawned.

“Goodnight Nicky,” Julia answered. They both fell asleep quickly. ~* Three Years Later *~ Julia is now 12, going on 13. Nick was 13. He was never home anymore because he had started singing 2 years before. He met two boys, Howie and Alex. Julia began to see less and less of Nick and miss him more and more. Julia went to Tamps Middle School and had made friends. She still felt empty. Nick and the two other boys had started a little group. But their manager thought they needed a little more harmony and so two more guys were added. They sang a lot but Julia never saw them. One day as Julia was walking home from school, she thought she heard someone calling her name. She was wrong. She shrugged it off and continued walking home. She walked into her driveway and got the mail then walked into her house.

“Hello Julia!” Jackie smiled brightly.

“Hey mom, “ Julia answered putting her backpack down on the chair.

“How was school?” Jackie asked.

“Boring,” Julia answered. She sat down on a chair.

“What’s wrong?” Jackie asked.

“Nothing,” Julia lied.

“Liar. You miss Nick, don’t you?” Jackie smiled. Julia nodded.

“I don’t miss him,” Julia lied.

“Liar again. Well, we’ll talk about this later. Do you have homework?” Jackie asked.

“No,” Julia said. “We have vacation for 3 weeks soon so they won’t give us,”

"Oh, okay. Well, why don’t you go outside...get some fresh air.” Jackie suggested.

“Okay, I’ll be back in a while,” Julia said getting up.

“Bye honey,” Jackie smiled. Julia walked out of the house and felt the warm sun on her face. She smiled. She walked along the path and reached her driveway. She walked along the side of the street and began humming “Open Arms” and remembered Nick used to sing that for her. She sighed and just kept on singing. An hour later, Julia decided to go home. She was in a good mood. She went to town and had heard some guys singing. She didn’t know who they were but they sounded good.

“Welcome home honey. How was your walk?” Jackie asked.

“Great, I feel better now,” Julia smiled.

“Good!” Jackie smiled. Julia decided to go shower. Main Story Page | Chapter 3
