Shirley and Bo had just entered Sussex, and was heading towards the dorms, when they heard voices. "Duck!" Shirley whispered, and they both hid behind a wall. Ms. Strattmen and a man were walking towards Ms. Strattmen's office. The man looked like Lacey, or Ashleigh, black hair, and blue eyes. "BO! He must be Ian Brayer!" Shirley whispered excitedly. Bo nodded, and they both followed the two figures towards Ms. Strattmen's office.
Shirley heard a phone ring, and heard a voice, "Dad! They want the diamond." Ashleigh's voice rang out, she made a strangled sound.
"Darling! Are you all right?"
"I'm fine, but they want the diamond. They're going to kill me!" Ashleigh's voice was trembling with fear. Bo shifted and gave Shirley a look. A look full of fear, something that Shirley never seen before in......Bo.
"Okay, sweetie, they can have the diamond, if they return you, and NEVER bother us again."
"They want it by six."
"Where?"
"At St. Marks"
"Don't hang u----" Ian Brayer looked defeated, and struggled to keep his composure. "I guess I'll go get the diamond." He sighed and slowly walked out of the room.
Shirley wasn't listening to Ashleigh's/Lacey's voice. She was listening, Ashleigh sounded like she was in a hollow room, and she faintly heard the sound of bells, the tune of St. Marks. Where could Ashleigh be? "Of course, the old warehouse!" Shirley said softly.
"What?"
"Bo, contact the police and Mr. Brayer, tell them to be there at St. Marks."
"Uh, okay, but where will you be?"
"Finding Ashleigh." With that, Shirley ran out of Sussex.
Shirley crept slowly into Redington bike warehouse. It was creepy, somewhere she heard a struggling noise. And she followed it, to a metal door. She managed to get it opened with her swiss army knife. A figure lay there, gagged. "Lacey?" Shirley whispered softly.
"SHIRLEY! What are you doing here? HELP!"
"It's a long story, but we have to get out of here." Ashleigh nodded, and Shirley set to work on Ashleigh's bound hands and feet. When Ashleigh was free, they both rushed over to St. Marks.
"Okay, Mr. Brayer w--" Bo was cut short.
"How did you know my real name?"
"No time for it now, got your lines? The police should be here any moment."
"I got it." Right after he finished saying that, he heard a voice, "Lay that diamond on the rock in front of you."
"Reveal yourself, or I won't give you the diamond!" Mr. Brayer shouted. Bo could tell how nervous he was, he was shifting and turning red. Bo himself was sweaty. "Fine." came the voice, and a silouette of a short man came out, in black, with a ski mask on. "Who are you?" Mr. Brayer asked.
"I have no reason to tell you."
"Where is my daughter."
"She's safe. Give the diamond." Mr. Brayer was losing it, he was about to hand the diamond over when the sirens of a police car floated over. The man looked startled and started to run. Bo wouldn't let him get away and landed a hard karate kick. The man fell to the floor, and lay there, unconsious.
"POLICE! FREEZE!" Bo and Mr. Brayer made way for the police, when Ashleigh came into view. Mr. Brayer looked shocked and Ashleigh ran into his arms, and they clung to each other, sobbing. BO looked at Shirley, and smiled, "I'm not surprised, I'm not surprised."
