Mermaid Dressing Screen
Potrack's Mermaid dressing screen. It won
1st place in its class at the Tulsa State
Fair, as well as receiving the coveted
"People's Choice Award". It has mouth blown
antique glass, along with assorted other
glass. Mermaid features were painted and
fired in the kiln. Her face was fired a
total of 8 times. The clam
shell is 3-D, and was slumped on a mold in
the
kiln.
The black pearl is a 1¼"
marble, made
with
a lampworking torch. The center of the marble
is a 3/8" black marble, surrounded by
translucent grey glass, to give it the pearl
effect. The wood frame is made of walnut
coated with tounge oil. The screen is 5' x
5'6" tall.

This is a detail photo of the clam shell and marble. The clam shell was slumped in a kiln and the marble (black pearl) was made with a lampworking torch.
