Born in Portland Maine, Eric Letarte first started listening to music at age 8. For his ninth birthday he was given a Beach Boys live album which gave him dreams of becoming a rock star. But as he grew older he realized he would need to learn how to play an instrument. "Guitar was only instrument I wanted to play." So on his 14th birthday, he was given a guitar only one day after Kurt Cobain was found dead which was a little odd. "I got my guitar and it made me think of Kurt, it looked like something he would have played, it was a total piece of shit."
Musically, Eric has many influences but tries to keep his guitar and vocal influences separate. His guitar influence includes Metallica, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, LOA, and Iron Maiden to name a few. Vocal influence includes Keith Caputo, Lanye Staley, Lajon Weatherspoon, Bono, Whitfield Crane, Michael Patton, and yes, Axl Rose.
