Kendra was introduced in the episode "What's My Line part 1" as Kendra the Vampire Slayer, who "replaced" Buffy when she "drowned" (but thanx to Xander and his CPR knowledge, Buffy was revived). She was raised in Jamaica (which explains her heavy accent) and was schooled by her Watcher, Sam Zabutu, which she was given to at a very young age by her family to help with her future slayer duties, though her age is unknown. Kendra is a very dedicated and by-the-book slayer, her fears are unknown though she named her favorite stake "Mr. Pointy". She has always been serious and fought well side-by-side with Buffy and the gang. Now for the love issues: She's not aloud to get involved or even talk to boys, said so by Sam Zabutu and she followed those words even when she was handed over to Giles, Buffy's watcher, to slay over the Hellmouth in Sunnydale. (i.e.: When Xander talked to her she went into a craze, didn't know what to say and looked embarrassed.) I'm afraid to say that she was hypnotized and then killed by Drusilla, who slit Kendra's neck with her nails in the episode "Becoming part 1". :(
Faith was introduced in the episode 'Faith, Hope and Trick' as Faith the Vampire Slayer, which replaced Kendra. She was raised in Boston, MA and is a High school drop-out, though her age and family are unknown. She was a friendly rough-and-though sorta girl who loved just havin' fun and kicking major vampire ass untill she decided to start working with the evil mayor and became hated (although she wasn't really a favorite in the first place). Now for the love issues: She had quick but romantic sex with Xander, she tried to seduce Angel so he would lose his soul and over all she's a little bit slutty. I'm afraid to say that, now, she is in a coma and might not make it for the 4th Season because of the big fight that happend with Buffy on "Grad part 1". :(
