Anatomy of a Runaway Train Conductor's Mind

You have a question for me, huh?

Ask away.

Why do I like Hanson?

WHY?

What? Moi? You're asking me to think of a REASON? Oh, man. Well, I guess I must answer you. Okay, here's my answer.

Which reason do you want?

Could it be their humor, their liveliness, their infectious smiles? Maybe. Is it the way their music makes me feel? Maybe. (Actually more than likely, but there's more to it than just that). Is it Taylor's impossibly deep blue, expressive, soulful, spellbinding, enchanting, mesmerizing (okay, I hear you, I'll shut up) eyes? Could it be Isaac's endearing and interesting and (dare I say) gorgeous hair? Or is it Zac's energy and, I don't know, zest for life? It it their looks that make me love them so? NO!! I'm not a teenie!! How dare you suggest... (okay, maybe a little bit).

The truth of the matter is, I have no earthly idea. Maybe it was a case of right place, right time, right song. Maybe it was the initial curiosity about a band so young (If curiosity killed the cat, just call me dead kitty) that's kept me interested all this time? It could be that I'm forever being amazed at how good they are, how talented, how...you get the picture. It could even be the fact that I'm not a huge fan of the manufactured boy band craze (and I will argue exstensively, determinedly, and convincingly with anyone who dares to suggest that they are a boy band). It could be any of these reasons. I just don't know why.

The only reason I can give you (and it's rather vague) is that I just do. I don't know why, I can't explain it, but I thank our heavenly father for it every day. Hanson's music is something I need, for whatever reason, and it's easy to believe it is heaven sent. And who am I to argue with what my heart says is right, anyway?

Any true Hanson fan will know what I'm talking about when I say there's no one reason why I love this particular band, I just do, is all. Ask someone who loved the Beatles in 1963 to tell you why they loved them. Ask any deadhead to explain why the music matters so much to them. Ask one of Kurt Cobain's fans why one man had such a profound effect on them. Ask any fan, of any band, from any age group, why they like their favorite band, or singer, or actor, or whatever. The answer, if they're a true fan, will always be the same.

I JUST DO.
