JOINING

Joining the Flippin Illini is as easy as attending the informational meeting at the beginning of the year and having your email address added to the list so you will know what is going on. There is a one time insurance fee of $12 and an insurance waiver for the school. After that, it is up to you how involved you are.

PRACTICE

Practice is held at Illinois Gymnastics Center which is located at 25 E Springfield. Springfield is two blocks north of Green Street and the gym is between First and Neil. There is a bus, the 22 Illini Engineering Campus, which will take you to First and Daniel and the gym is only a few blocks farther. There is an insurance waiver that needs to be filled out for the gym and a pass needs to be purchased. Open gym is held Monday thru Thursday from 8:30-10:00. You can come as often or as little as you like. Some people like to come a couple times a week and others come only the week (or the day) before a meet. It is an open workout so that means other than the other people there practicing, you are on your own to work on whatever you would like. Here is a list of the equipment they have available:

-high bar with foam pit on one side

MEETS

We usually attend between four and seven meets a year and then Nationals in the spring semester. They are held on Saturdays and we leave either Saturday morning or Friday night, depending on how far away the meet is. The meets are always a lot of fun with a relaxed atmosphere. After the meet, the host team has a party so we stay overnight and return back to school on Sunday. The only requirement to compete at Nationals is that you have competed with the team at two meets during the year prior to the National competition.
