"The Flyers are going to win the Stanley Cup! The Flyers are going to win the STanley Cup! The Flyers have won the Stanley Cup!" Every Philadelphia hockey fan has heard those words called by the legendary Gene Hart back in the 70s. Not only was Gene Hart an announcer, he was a part of Philadelphia. From his voice echoing the Flyers Stanley Cup win, to the Phantoms Calder Cup win in '98, he was a part of Philadelphia hockey fans everywhere...a part that cannot be forgotten and a part that can never be replaced. Every time a game was televised, his booming voice came into our living rooms and into our hearts. Though some of us were not around to hear or see the Flyers win in person, those magical words that Gene Hart called back in the 70s still bring a smile and tear to every Philadelphia hockey fan, hoping it could be again. And those that were there to be able to witness it agree that it was truely magical. "For the first time in it's entire 62 year history, the Calder Cup comes to Philadelphia" were the words called by Gene Hart as the Phantoms won the Calder Cup. And for those who were not around in the 70s, these were our magical words called by the legendary broadcaster...and just as his famous voice lives on, so will he in our hearts to every Philadelphia hockey fan. He will be missed by Philadelphia, but as you go about your day, grieving the loss, take a moment to look to the sky and say "Thanks, Gene." For teaching us about the game he loved so much, for all the broadcasts, for bringing a smile to our face as he shouted "SCORE!" And as sure as the sun will rise, as the grass is green, as Roger will always wear those ties, Gene Hart will be a part of Philadelphia. --Diane
