This page will change occasionally as I take or find different pictures of the wildlife found in Perth.

These are animals most associated with Australia:

No picture yet for the Kookaburra

Largest of the Kingfisher family, although it doesn't eat fish. It's diet mainly consists of small animals, snakes, lizards and the occassional BBQ sausage. Their call sounds very much like they are laughing.

This picture taken by me at a wildlife park in Melbourne. With there grey fur and black noses, aren't they just the cutest? Although they are called Koala Bears, they are in fact not bears. Their diet consists of Eucalyptus leaves and while this one is awake, Koala's normally sleep up to 18 hours a day.

Boomer (male), Flyer (female), and Joey (baby). The Kangaroo is the largest marsupial in the world. There are over 40 types of kangaroo, the smallest being the Wallaby. The Red Kangaroo(largest) stands taller than a man and weighs about 85kg. A kangaroo can hop at over 60kmh and can jump over 10ft.

This large flightless bird is unique to Australia. With a long neck, small head and long legs, it's an extremely fast runner and can also swim(i didn't know that). The male Emu also incubates and looks after the babies once their hatched.

Only 2ft long(including tail and bill) the Platypus is not very big. It uses it's bill(beak) to forage for food on the river floor. They mainly eat worms, insect larvae and yabbies (oh yummy). The Platypus is one of only two Monotremes (which is an egg-laying marsupial) found in the world. The other is the Echidna and both are found in Australia.
