Thanks again John, Robert Ackerman Palmer, Alaska Note: View the *picture on the following URL: http://www.angelfire.com/sd/webmonitor/hankfye.jpg _____________________________________________________________________________ Hi Bob, Sorry, it took me so long to get this picture of Hank and Gene Fye to you. Gene couldn't find my address. Anyways, here it is and you are welcome to post it on your site. As you can see, Gene was just a teenager when he played with Hank at Shreveport. Gene is not that tall, so Hank really looks seven feet tall in this picture, but it is a great picture of him. Gene still looks very young for his age. He looks like he is in his fifties. I think he told me he is 72 or 73. He still holds down a full time job and still plays. As a matter of fact, he will probably be doing some shows with us this year. If you heard him play, you would see why Hank used him for a few months. Even now, he is still a great steel player. I asked Gene if anybody called him, and he said no one called after reading about him in your emails. I think he might have been a little disappointed. Here is his number if anyone would like to talk to him. It is 814-692-8767. Take care and enjoy the picture. Kindest regards, John Moore www.themoorebrothers.com _____________________________________________________________________________ UPADTE OCT 25, 2003 ATTENTION HANK FANS - You may want to tune in for some good country music - including some Hank ! Robert A. _____________________________________________________________________________ Hi Bob, Just wanted to let you know that Gene Fye will be our special guest on this Sunday's radio show, "The Moore Brothers Jamboree." You remember me telling you about Gene. He played steel for Hank in 1948 for a while in Shreveport. He did the Hayride, radio shows, and of course stage shows. Hank asked him to play when he and his brother and sister were playing for Red Sovine at the time. We do some Hank songs on the show and we also had the chance to talk with Gene a little on the show. I think you would enjoy that part. Hope you can tune in. You may want to let those on your mailing list know.
