CAUGHT IN THE ACT (MR 2027-2) contains the spectacular August 26th, 1973 Las Vegas Midnight Show. Elvis is in exceptional form during this concert, and delights the audience with an excellent mix of rock 'n' roll ('Johnny B.Goode'), gospel ('How Great Thou Art'), blues ('Steamroller Blues'), greatest hits ('Suspicious Minds', country ('Release Me') and ballads ('The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face'). In the case of 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face', he even includes the verse that was omitted from the studio version! A very touching moment is when Elvis introduces his six-year old daughter Lisa Marie to the audience, and dedicates 'Teddy Bear' to her. Sleevenotes for this release were written by Elvis expert Arjan Deelen, author of the excellent CAUGHT IN A TRAP book. _____________________________________________________________________________ The second release is SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW (MR 2028-2) and it contains the January 26th, 1974 Opening Show. This release and the first one complement eachother very well; five months after the turbulent August / September 1973 engagement a more subdued Elvis returns to Vegas, and surprises the audiences with new songs from the recent Stax sessions ('Spanish Eyes', 'Help Me'), as well as the completely new 'Let Me Be There'. This concert also marks the debut of bass player Duke Bardwell, who performed with Elvis from January 1974 to April 1975. _____________________________________________________________________________ Both CD's contain top-notch audience recordings, copied from the original tapes, and digitally improved using the latest technology. As you've come to expect from our label, both are also excellently packaged with sleevenotes, rare photos and all the necessary info. _____________________________________________________________________________ Pavel CERNOCKY _____________________________________________________________________________ MEMORY Records _____________________________________________________________________________ Nov 22, 2002 _____________________________________________________________________________ Friends Through Elvis Pete "Helping the Memphis Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Centre" Please make a large or small donation @ URL: http://www.the-med.org/ _____________________________________________________________________________
