The Sounds of Sirens
From "Aspirations of Pen and Thought."
By Beverly Stewart
- The sounds of sirens in the city
- Someone's in trouble, oh, what a pity
- Police cars, ambulances, races to save a life
- Someone's been shot or stabbed with a knife.
- Another mugged, another raped
- A convicted killer has just escaped.
- A child is abused
- The parents are accused.
- A man is lying on the ground...sorry, he died
- Couldn't take the pressure, committed suicide.
- Fire trucks rush to put out a fire
- How did this one start...overloaded wires.
- As a result, a whole family dies
- Friends are shocked, relatives cry.
- The elderly are being robbed and killed
- Children are being abducted against their will.
- A jealous lover just shot the other
- An angry kid lashes out at his mother.
- Two bodies are found, (the police stated)
- Motive for the killing...drug related.
- People are angry, can't get a job
- Alternative to that...go out and rob
- Kids are killing kids, what on earth's the matter?
- They're handed guns on a silver platter.
- If you're out to buy an expensive coat, leave it on the rack
- There are people who'll have no problem taking it off your back.
- You will either be smart and give it up from the start
- Or you will try to be a hero and end up a zero.
- People are leery, don't know who to trust
- Look across the street...another drug bust.
- She picked up a guy named Barry Miller
- He just happened to be the convicted killer.
- He strangled her, left her to die
- All the parents could say is, why?
- The sounds of sirens in the city
- Someone's in trouble, oh, what a pity.
