Gambit

They Canned It

12/7/00 Alright as I said here before I was happy when they said Gambit was getting his own comic I was jumbing up and down for joy. So now that I heared that the Gambit comic is canceled I was ranting and raveing. To see what more I have to say on that check out my thoughts page. Even though it's being canceled I'm going to add the rest of the reviews of them here. Hopefully some time soon. Since this page would otherwise not have a pourpose since it's being cancelled I'll probably use this space to talk about what's happening in his life as of late. I think that would work out ok. Now the way I have this page set up is in chronological order so the newer the comic the further down the list it will be. Just thought I'd let you know.

Not all is lost on Gambit though him and Bishop have a limited series out. I haven't had the chance or the money to buy it yet but I will and there will be reviews.

Scratch last comment I now have the first two but still haven't had the time to read them. However I'm one step closer. I haven't been able to find the rest in the set but I guess I'll have to order them.

Issue #1/2- I found this one good. It reveals how he got out of Antartica and it gives a little more thought to the green thing inside his body. However though I thought it was kind of lacking in a good story line. There weren't so many of those famous wisecracks which always makes him sooo intresting. It is however essential reading to understand how certain things come about. Like his deal with New Son and the green entity.

Issue #1- Ok so I got the comic book, I read the comic book, and I thought it was pretty good. If you're like me and are not at all pleased with the way the X-Men have been treating him lately you'll be happy to know that he played a well deserved trick on Wolverine. The fact that it's based on him being more of a thief is great. You now get to see Gambit as a thief than more of an X-Men. That's what he was doing throughout the first issue. In the comic it also discusses his past it shows pictures of him as a baby (he looks really cute) and you see a picture of his marriage to Bella Donna. I still havn't heard anything about his and Rogue's relationship though.

Issue #2- Ok the next issue was just as good as the first one. The great thing about this one is he has to steal something with Storm right there. So can you guess if he did it or not. Well if you guessed that he was able to you are correct very correct. You also find out just a little bit more about his past but not much and there still is no word on what the hell that green thing is. The great thing though is that there was no trace of Rogue in this issue.

Issue #3- Here is where we are first introduced to the Mango brothers (I think I have that spelt right) anyway I have to say I liked it. Especially the part where he's talking to that one guy and he asks how he found him and Gambit responds with "please" (I'll get it exactly as it should be when I find where I put that comic.) Anyway I just have to say that it was great.

Issue #4- One word BLADE! Alright I thought the team up between Gambit and Blade was pretty damn cool. I especially liked the short little fight scean all though it could have been better. Anyway the fact that they were working together was pretty cool I'll later post up one of my favorite thing Gambit says in that issue too.

Now I'm really far behind sorry about that I've been really busy with other stuff give me more time and I'll have it set up.

WARNING: Because I did not right thse reviews right after reading them tere isn't much disgust or excitement in them. They are just straight summaries because I don't have the exact feeling for them now that I did then. Sorry but I doubt that you'll mind.

Issue #5- Ok the story line is X-Cutioner captures Rogue in order to get to LeBeau. Needless to say it works and Remy goes chasing after her. Pretty much leaving a storm in his wake and gets the job done. You see somewhat toching moments between the two of them. If you're one of those people who hope for them to be together you could consider it a tease. If not you could find it nauseating. Also you see the green thing once again.

Issue #6- Enter Remy's world as a young kid. In this one he meets up with Candra for the first time. He meets a future foe known as the Pig. Also through a Fontelle episode you learn that Mary Purcell was a mutant that died and is in fact the green thing inside Remy. You also meet another intresting character named Zoe who appears in other issues of Gambit.

Issue #7- This one is a continuation of the last issue but takes place in the present where Gambit meets up with the Pig again as an adult. In here Gambit has to fight the Pig in order to save some kids especially one of those kids.

Issue #8- The begining starts off wonderfully with Gambit sneaking into the X-Mansion. After which he leaves to meat up with a couple of old friends and he's in search of Sabertooth to get some help from him. He finally meets New Son and also gets his own incounter with Fontenelle. However when he finds Sabertooth at the end he isn't in the best of health.

Issue #9- Well it starts out with a small fight between Gambit and Sabertooth which Gambit could have killed him if he didn't need his help. Well Gambit gets his help to make a move on Sinister. Gambit brings Jacob allong for comic relief and as usual his pansy ass whining works. You also see a good deal of action and finally a deal made with Sinister once again. Not to mention the vial shown in The Trial of Gambit (UXM #350)

Issue #10- Gambit, Sek, and the Fenris are all after the same thing... the Tommarrow Stone. A jewel that time travels yada yada yada. You probably read this so I won't go into detail. Well this one's pretty interesting but in the end no one gets it. Then you see a future where Gambit and Rogue gets married. Just another tease for all you Rogue and Remy hopefuls out there. Sorry I gave up on that thought a long time ago like when she left him in Antartica. Then you alos see him as the witness.

Issue #11- Okay Daredevil and Gambit team up against Constrictor. Each of the tree trying to save a different mans life. There's a lot of action in this one which is good. A rule of my life is anything with people beating the crap out of each other or someone else is at least a little bit awsome. Anyway I'm off track in the end they come up with a way benificial to each one to save the people the need to.

Issue #12- Alright in this one Gambit is sent back in time by his father so that he can go back in time to save his father as he once done it before. Him, Sek, Jacob, and the Mengo brothers infiltrate Dr. Doom's castle in order to use is time machine. Well him and Jacob go through the portal leaving Sek and the Mengos to take care of things on the other side. As they go walking through 1800's of England they get help from another thief and Gambit meets up with Candra and they save Jean-Luc.

Issue #13- Well throughtout the comic we see a lot of references to present things and Jean-Luc asking Remy what he's talking about and a lot of neverminds. Jacob also turned himself into a girl and Gambit proposes. Jacob meets Sinister and Fontanelle has a talk with Bella Donna. Remy eventually gets betrayed by Jean-Luc. Also once again Remy deals with Sinister again and see's what Sinister's done with Jacob.

Issue #14- There is no review for #14 at the time because when I wrote these out I didn't have it. I think I finally bought it but now it's a question of where it's at.

Issue #15- Didn't like it. Considering it was all Rogue and no Gambit it boared the shit out of me. I'm sorry but Rogue by herself isn't really all that entertaining. This one however was about her going to Doom's castle and trying to help Gambit get back or something along that line. I only read it once and I don't care to read it again so I didn't pay that close to the details.

Issue #16- Gambit's powers allow him to touch Rogue so there relationship develops once again only to crash once again (YEAH!) because of untold truths. The inhanced powers of Gambit's start getting out of control and you find out that the assasins guild is now after Gambit.

Issue #17- Basically Gambit's getting attacked by one person after the other due to the contract on him by New Son. A few of them being Bullseye, Constrictor, and Deadpool.

Issue #18- Just basically the same as #17 being attacked by people. This time including Batroc, Zaran, and X-Cutioner. You also get some of Carl Denti's reflections of Gambit. I think they're pretty good ones too. Then finally you see Bella after him.

Issue #19- Well I really enjoyed this one you get to see the guilds working together instead of fighting. You also get to see Remy and Bella Donna getting along and she even admits she still has feelings for him. I thought it was a good issue.

The rest will come later when I have time to review the remainin issues.

Issue #24- Well I thought this one wrapped up the whole series and made a good ending to the story. We finally got to find out who New Son is. I realized after finishing this comic though that I'm really going to miss some of the characters created in here. Especially Jacob or should I say Jaquline. Anyway his character really began to grow on me he became especially funny after he got stuck in a female body. Anyway though I think this comic did a really good job.

And now the last issue. I just bought it last week so deal with the fact that it hasn't been up.

Issue #25- Well I found this one was a good little story. More kid Gambit what can I say. Well it starts off with him as a little kid stealing some amulet from some powerful guy down in New Orleans. Well then it goes to present day where he's owing him a favore wich deals with his daughter. I'm trying so hard not to give anything away. Well it's a good read and I liked it a lot. It even had good artwork which is always a plus. It's too bad though that the comic ends with this one.
