An anime manga (manwha) made by a Korean artist. Demon Diary is without doubt my favorite manga of all time. Although it is not an anime, it still fits in that category, so I put it in my anime page. Demon Diary is in a whole different world from our own. There are two kinds of creatures, demons and humans. Among the demons there are seers, demon servants, and demon lords. Among the humans there are knights (demon slayers), and priests who answer to the gods. A long time ago in the Hangma War, demons and the creatures of heaven (gods or servants of the gods) fought each other. Among the demons was one demon who was the mightiest, his name was Raenef the IV. To stop him, a huge amount of the creatures of heaven sacrficed their lives to put a curse on the demon lord. So, he died soon after. Eclipse who was a great servant of the royalty of the Raenef demon lordship went out to seek the heir to the deceased demon lord's throne.
He finds Raenef V. Raenef is a cute, innocent, kind, and noble being. And so begins the challenge of shaping him into proper demon lord material. This is a tale of humor and mystery as Raenef tries his hardest to be a kind noble person and a wickedly harsh demon lord at the same time. As he studies, Eclipse slowly gives up trying to change his personality. Later on, however, he begans to appreciate his kindness. As Raenef trains and studies, he somehow always finds a way to embarrass him. For example in a demon lord meeting, Raenef enters and says something pleasant and all of the other demon lords make fun of him. He remembers Eclipses' lessons and he says to all the mighty powerful demon lords, "How dare you admonish me vermin?" I personally found that very funny. Raenef also is attacked by a female knight, Erutis, who wants to defeat the demon. Raenef doesn't want to fight, but instead wants to be friends. Later on though Eclipse captures her and she decides to pledge loyalty to Raenef to save her life. Another incident involving a young priest of the high temple of the god Rased, Chris, ends up in peace as well. The young warrior priest tries to defeat Raenef, but manages instead to get beaten by a puny technique (Dark Arrow). The high priest of the temple then sentences Chris to serve in Raenef's castle to learn humility. As the story progresses, many demon lords are introduced. Some friends, others rivals. The demon world is full of deception, treachery, and ambition (similar to ancient Rome). A very entertaining tale to say the least. I believe that everyone should read this manga. It is extremely funny and very amusing. There are only seven volumes in the series. Each run at about $ 9.99. It is definetly worth it. If you don't want to pay, just go to your local bookstore and read it for free.
