Gundam Wing is an anime series about the mission assigned to five trained gundam pilots to overturn the status quo of their world and achieve freedom for their people. In their world, some human beings have moved from earth to create artificial planets known as colonies in outer space. The earth's military regularly oppresses and subjugates the people of the colonies. For this reason, a few scientists have created powerful robot fighting suits called the Gundams and trained pilots from their colonies to be sent to earth to fight against the oppressive earth military forces. The story is very enteraining, especially to those who enjoy world politics and like watching robot anime. Filled with political parallels and critiques of modern-day politics, Gundam Wing offers much as an anime with intellectual themes. The series contains 52 episodes, and has an english dub you can buy. I watched the series in the english when it was on Cartoon Network, and enjoyed it very much. In America, Gundam Wing is a classic anime which aired around the time Dragonball Z was popular. There is also a movie based on the series called Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz.

Heero Yuy: The pilot of the Gundam Wing. Heero is the main character of the series. Heero is Japanese. His past is unknown. His personality is mysterious, cold, and determined with his mission. He doesn't care for anything except accomplishing his mission by whatever it takes. He is the strongest Gundam pilot.

Duo Maxwell: The pilot of the Gundam Deathscythe. Duo is an American from a space colony sent to fight against the Earth forces. He is over-confident, cocky, and carefree. He gets on Heero's nerves alot. He specialty is stealth.

Quatre Raberba Winner: The pilot of the Gundam Sandrock. He is Arab from a wealthy outerspace business family sent to fight on Earth. Quatre is kind, gentle, and sentimental. This is a his major weakness as can be seen in the series. When he is in trouble, he can count on his friends from the Magnorak core to help him out. His specialty is close-hand ground combat.

Trowa Barton: The pilot of the Gundam Heavy Arms. Trowa's past remains a mystery as he has recieved amnesia. His personality is that he is reliable, and is willing to sacrifice himself for his friends, though he might seem kind of distant at times. He gets along especially well with Quatre. His specialty is long-range fighting.

Wufei Chan: The pilot of the Gundam Shenlong. Wufei is Chinese. He is rather mysterious, yet proves himself to be extremely strong and self-reliant. Wufei prefers to fight by himself, and is self-confident. He has a great sense of chivalry and does not fight women or wounded soldiers. He is one of the strongest Gundam pilots.

Relena: She is the daughter of top government official from the colonies. She meets Heero Yuy because she goes to the same school as him. She is very interested in Heero, and becomes an important character in the series. She is gentle, kind, and responsible.

Zechs Marquis: The masked warrior (every Gundam series needs one) Zechs has a mutual rivalry with Heero Yuy starting from the beginning of ther series. He is a powerful mobile suit pilot, and has a very high sense of duty to his commanders.

Treize Khushrenada: A noble from Earth. He has very abstract ideals, and a strong sense of pride and honor. He admires the Gundam pilots for their passion in fighting. He has a mutual rivalry with Wufei.
