4-track audio samples
I don't have much going for me here, but I'm home alone and I thought I'd see if I could
put some small mp3s on this site.
Let's see....
(a few minutes later)
Yeah, this seems to work, so let's move on.
These files are very small mp3s. They were shrunken down to the worst quality, and they're only about a minute long. So keeping that in mind. Enjoy.
Terracotta Tribute
This song was recorded in the middle of a month of depression.
I wanted to make my music brief and full of void (oxymoron?).
The instruments include: Saxophone, moog, flute, 1960s commodore tape recorder, terracotta pots,
prepared piano, and voice. I was heavy into Anton Webern at the time, and I wanted to make a
recording similar to his opus 10. Very brief, extreme dynamics, and a picture of anxiety.
Here is a review by my friend in Phoenix, Kevin Keane:
"The comment I made on the short piece you sent via email meant that I found
the piece bleak, disturbing and seemingly coming from a place that was dark
and void of any hope of a pleasant tomorrow. I sarcastically suggested,
PLEASE don't jump off a bridge.
You've really got it going on if you can make people feel such things in the
course of a minute."
Quartet for 3 prepared pianos and kitchen percussion
I put down two tracks of prepared piano first.
Second I put one of the piano parts to microcassette tape and played the tape live (with live
adjustments) for the 3rd track. The final track was me tapping and moving a butterknife against
the kitchen counter and a toaster popping up at the end. Woah, Chill out.
