Scottish SconesOats give these scones a unique taste.The wedge shape gives them a unique look. 1 1/2 cups Flour 1 Tbls Baking powder 1/2 tsp Salt 1/4 cup Sugar 1/2 tsp Cinnamon 1/4 tsp Mace 1/4 tsp Nutmeg 1/3 cup Shortening 3/4 cup Oats (quick or old-fashioned), uncooked 1/4 cup Raisins 2/3 cup Milk Pre-heat the oven to 425. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, spices and sugar. Cut in the shortening until the mixture has a mealy appearance. Mix in the oats and raisins. Slowly mix in the milk. Turn the dough out onto a floured board. Knead briefly (1 minute). Roll out to an eight-inch circle that is 1/4-inch thick. Cut into 8 wedges. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 12-15 minutes (or until golden brown). Serve warm with butter and honey. Yummmmm!!!!! For a variation, try adding 1 tsp grated orange zest to the dough!
