A Canadian Tribute I Am Your Flag (They Come to)America The Sept. 11 Song
The House of the Watchers\
From the Ashes
My thoughts go out to all those who lost their lives in the tragedy of September 11th 2001, and to those who sacrificed themselves trying to save them. Since I am a Canadian, there is little I can do to aid our neighbours in their time of sorrow, but the following poem is my personal tribute to the world's loss.
We are numb
Shock emcompasses our forms like a shroud, numbing our feelings
Masking our pain
Fear extends her cold finger to brush against our minds
Sending chills to our spine
And knots to our stomach
This was supposed to be a generation of peace
But peace, like fragile glass, has shattered
It's sharp glistening fragments lie scattered around our feet
Thier crystal edges cutting the innocent
Bringing tears to the eyes of the world
Leaving our sense of security in tattered shards
And yet as the shock leaves us
We pick up the needle and sew those shards together
And pick up the peices
To create a stronger world
For United we stand, Divided we fall.
