I'm Melissa Drake, a 20 year old student at
Seneca College in Toronto,Canada.
I've always been interested in rocking and carousel horses
and other animals, and reciently realized that I too could
learn how to carve one.
I've never liked the simple style of rocking horse (done
primarily with flat pieces of wood) and prefer the look of
fully sculptured animals.
Though I'm still waiting on enough money to afford proper
tools, I've been looking around the web for more information.
I've also been looking at some antique rocking horses in
local antique markets. My best find was a 'primitive' rocking piglet
from early this century, though it was without rockers.
Eventually, I hope I can design some nice rockers. My dream project is a
'Unicorn Tapestries' style unicorn, in a nice, fully carved style.
If you'd like to suggest some links, or things I could have on
this site, please do. I'd also gladly accept photographs.
I'd like this to be a good, general resource for people who
really fancy carved moving animals of any sort.
