16 MAGAZINE ARTICLE ON GREGG RAINWATER

In case ya haven't noticed, Gregg Rainwater, who plays Buck Cross on ABC's The Young Riders, has been getting a lot of attention from the media, fans and admirers since he first came blazing across the small screen in 1989. Knowing this, 16 caught up with Gregg to see how all this success has affected this totally hunky horseman. Turns out, just as we suspected-that gorgeous Gregg is still the same sincere, unaffected, lovable doll he's always been!

Praises Have Been
"Raining" Down On Gregg!

How does it feel to be voted of the "10 Sexiest Bachelors" by US Magazine? "I guess in a way it's flattering," Gregg told 16. "It's nice to know that someone out there likes me, but I don't take it too seriously." Gregg prefers being recognized as the talented actor that he is, rather than for his good looks. (Though there's no denying he's got those too!)

Thoughts On Buck

Gregg may have stayed his sweet self owver the past year, but he told 16 he thinks his character, Buck, has changed a good deal since the first Young Riders episodes. "I thinks Buck is getting funnier," he said, "he's getting a little more free, and I think that has a lot to do with feeling more comfortable with the role." Gregg is happy with the way the show's writers have depicted Buck's situation as being one half Indian American, caught up in the conflict between two cultures. "I'll be interested to see how it progresses," said Gregg, who is himself part Cherokee Indian. "Buck is an individual. He's got his own individaul quirks, and what I would hope for him is that he comes to a point where it doesn't matter. He's got to make himself happy wherever he is, just live his life and be happy. Hopefully, he'll come to that!"

He's The Only "Rainwater" In The Desert!

It can get lonely, filming out in the Arizonia desert eight months out of the year, but Gregg has a lot of things he enjoys doing to keep him busy. (He's also tight with the rest of the Young Riders cast, so although he does miss his friends back in L.A., he's still got plenty of company!) He reads all the time, and he plans on taking up the acoustic guitar when he has free time on the set.

Ten Years...A Long
Time!

As for the big question-Does Gregg have a girlfriend? The answer is, he's goin' it solo as the moment. Gregg and the rest of the cast celebrated at the wedding of fellow Young Rider Stephen Baldwin last summer, and they all had a blast. His own thoughts on marriage: "I think it'll be another ten years before I get married. I just know that I've got to be in a certain mental space before I even consider marriage-that's heavy duty stuff! But you never know..." One "relationship" Gregg is working hard to fix is the one with his pet lizard, Sulu! "I let him loose in my apartment in Arizonia and he took are of the crickets adn he was wonderful. Then I took him back to L.A. during the summer, and I had to put him in an aquarium. He's hated me ever since!" Message to Sulu from 16: Give Gregg another chance he deserves it!
