The character Ty plays is called The Kid, and according to this sandy-brown haired cutie, this you rider is no ordinary cowboy! Ty told us, "The Kid is the leader of the Young Riders. He's simple, hardworking and honest...he always makes the right decisions when the chips are down." Everyone who works with Ty agrees that he has a lot of the same super qualities as his character, which makes him a well-liked guy, both on camera and off!
Although Ty is very serious about his work on the set of The Young Riders, he's also an easy-going guy who loves a good practicle joke. In fact, Ty is known on the set for his funny sense of humor. Since some of The Young Riders were really newcomers to the world of riding and horses, Ty had fun showing them some tricks of the trade. During one practice riding session, though, Ty himself was laughing so hard that he actually fell off his own horse! But he didn't mind-anything for a good laugh!
You'd never think from watching him that Ty is a newcomer to ating-he's such a natural on camera! But, truth be known, Ty didnt' even start until he was in college getting his business degree! A friend suggested he try acting in commercials to make extra money and he did just that! He appeared in over twenty commercials plus guest spots on such shows as Growing Pains and Our House. He got his big break when he got the role of bellboy Eric Lloyed on Hotel. One thing led to another when the Hotel season ended, and Ty happily found himself being offered the role of Kid on The Young Riders!
A Modern-Day Cowboy!
Ty himself is a cowboy at heart. He grew up on a ranch in Grenada Hills, California, where he loved to ride horses. "That is, until I get my motorcycle!" Ty laughs, "Then I forgot about horses!" Seriously though, Ty's a real outdoorsman who feels lucky to be doing a western series. His love of the Old West runs in the family-Ty's dad named him after a Western outlaw, and what's more, Ty's older bro', Will, is named after the legendary Will Rogers!
Also A Young Bike Rider!
When he's not in the saddle Pinto (the horse he rides on The Young Riders), you can find Ty on a bike-he's an avid cyclist who sometimes peddles between 50 and 80 miles a day! In his spare time Ty also loves to listen to music of all kinds. He especially likes U2 and Stevie Wonder. Not only does he listen to music, but he also plays it as well. Ty's a talented guitarist and singer too! When we asked Ty what kinds of girls he likes, he told us, "There are so many different qualitise to like, it's hard to name just a few! But I guess she's got to be nice and a kind of spur-of-the-moment person, like me!"
