"Kid what are you doin?"
"Jimmy I swear if you touch her..." Kid warned Jimmy but Jimmy cut him off. "What Kid what will ya do?" "Don't you touch her, Jimmy." Kid walked quickly out of the barn. He jumped on Katy and rode away.
Jimmy and Lou sat by the pond in a comforting silence. Jimmy spoke all of a sudden. "Lou what are we doin out here?"
"Havin' a picnic Jimmy" Lou answered.
"Yeah but why ain't ya out here with Kid?" Jimmy asked knowing he would regret the words before he said them.
"Jimmy dang it cant you just leave kid outta this. He's with Samantha now and there ain't a thing I can do about it."
Jimmy Hickok was the one man who could infuriate Lou without even trying hard.
"Lou I know the only reason you brought me out here is to make Kid jealous."
"No Jimmy of course not I just wanted to go for a picnic." Lou tried to lie and she was very good at it with most people. But Jimmy Hickok could read her like a book.
"You're lyin Lou . But I think you really did have some affect on him. Kid came pretty close to hittin me thanks to your kiss." Jimmy laughed and Lou giggled and Jimmy fell in love with her giggle for what seemed like the first time but was really the hundredth. "Lou I'm not gonna help you hurt my best friend." Lou's face fell. "Jimmy I made a bad mistake. I never shoulda tried to use you to hurt Kid I'm sorry" "It's alright Lou."
Two weeks later.....
Jimmy and Lou were on a mission for Teaspoon. They were going to St. Louis for a few days to pick up some supplies. They were somewhere on the trail when Jimmy spoke. "We got company."
